ok really, Jaa is good, but Jackie was better! Anyone remember Drunken Master II?

Anyone see The Medallion? or anything else Chan has done recently in HK or the US? Lets face it, action wise the man has moved on, lets stop living in the past people, will Jaa have the impact Chan had on the scene, of course not, but I think some of these comparisons are just people needing some one new to admire, is anyone looking at The Tuxedo and saying, damn, that stunt was hot!

Well, in defense to B4Bishop, he did use the past tense. Jackie Chan was awesome. Ever since he came to the US it seems he picks up any role possible.

His HK stuff has been horrible too lately, Who AM I?, Police Story 4, Gorgeous, Accidental Spy, even Medallion was a HK movie I believe.

Who Am I wasn't too bad, there were some good stunts in that one, but I agree with everyone Jackie isn't as great as he used to be. Crap like Medallion really taints his reputation, and makes everyone forget the decent-to-good films he's put out lately, like the two Rush Hour and Shanghai movies. Plus Around the World in 80 Days has been getting good reviews, but unfortunately no one wants to see it.

Saw this trailer for Jaa's next movie.

This is not Jaa's new movie, but another movie from the same studio that made Ong Bak. Still looks like it kicks major amounts of ass though.

Tony Jaa is currently working in Australia on Ong Bak 2.

Ahh... thanks for the correction. Someone on another board indicated that it was a Jaa movie, and I thought I saw him in the trailer. Still it's good to see Thai cinema becoming popular.

those stunt people ( the ones getting their asses kicked ) must be low paid and "expendable"...some of those hits gotta hurt in a major way ( like when they come down full-force onto a wooden plank and hit their torso/head/face...OUCH!)

how about that scene where the guy falls between those two tractor trailers (big rigs) and nearly has his head run over by the rear wheels! geez, talk about a close call!

can never see this sort of stuff coming out of hollywood...glad to see it coming out of Thailand though, cause it kicks major butt!!!

Someone mentioned that this movie supposedly features the "most dangerous stunt ever filmed." I have to believe that refers to the semi-trailer scene in the trailer.

One of my students is from Thailand, and he was the one that originally showed me this trailer. He said it's just now in Thai theatres, so we've probably got at least a few months before an official Thai dvd is released, and even then, no english subs, more than likely. This one looks like it has a little more of a plot than Ong Bak, but I'll probably pick up the Thai release anyways, cuz that'll be be the only one available for a while.

The Thai release is available, but it has no english subs as expected.

The us release is coming out on aug 30th. Dont know if it is edited though.

subs are not necessary for this movie at all. Some bad guys take over a village of Olympic hopefuls it seems like. The village bans together and starts using their soccer, pole vaulting, and gymnastic skills to take out guys with guns. Too much use of the slow mo repeat scene trick and the 'fight' scenes don't look real at all. Least in Ong Bak most of the fight scenes were well done and realistic.

The Premiere Asia version is up for pre-order at Amazon.co.uk. just in case anyone is interested. Anyone getting both the R4 and R2 versions?

what about 'les fils du vent' aka 'great challenge', seek out the trailer and you will see similar kinds of action, this time that stuff where they run up wall, jump buildings etc...

Thanks to DVDTalker Shagrath (see the "Danny the Dog/Unleashed" thread in this same forum), I've just become aware that you can still pick up the R4 "Ong Bak" from CD-WOW for $15.95. The site lists a price of $23.95 but using the $2 off link drops the price to $15.95.
