I am going to order the Bruce Lee set. I put most my DVD's in DVD-Binders, 'cept for TV boxsets and reallly cool cases and this is one of the REALLY cool cases that would be kept outside of the binders.

jrsl76, the Canadian version of 8 Women does have some nice extras. It's Canadian so there should be English subs everywhere. I'm French so I didn't need to check for them.
There's a commentary with the director and a bunch of the actresses (and even the guy's agent!). There are a couple of making of and behind the scenes featurettes, a jump-to-a-musical number option, and some trailers and things. Very good option if you don't want to get the French DVD. Check for the version by Seville or something like that. I found it at a Rogers (CDN version of Blockbuster) so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
As for the Bruce Lee set, I listened to Fist of Fury in DTS and it's definitely an improvement over the Fox release.
There are virtually no extras. The 'Celebrity Interviews' from The Big Boss DVD is only about 4 1/2 minutes long and most of that is taken up by Tung Wai speaking Cantonese (with optional Korean subs only), but you do hear Sammo Hung, Wong Jing and Simon Yam talking a big. The extra footage is not the same as in the HKL version, that's true, but Spectrum is not a specialty DVD company like HKL. The biggest extra, the doc, is on its own DVD.
The picture is much, much better than the Fox version. It's been cleaned up a great deal. The DTS track is worth it, I think. It's a good track, but, I mean, it was remastered from a mono track; most of the sound comes from the front center speaker. The music and some ambience comes through the back. It's better than I thought it would be.
Can't compare with the HKL set 'cause my package got lost and HKL doesn't send packages with a tracking option. They sent another package but I don't know if I'll get that one either.
I'm happy I bought it. If I'd had the Fox set, I would've upgraded to the Spectrum release.

From the UK:
There were a number of boxes released with lobby cards in some, t-shirts in another and even screenplays and posters:
Get Carter
Enter the Dragon
What Women Want
Natural Born Killers
Wizard of Oz
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
From Japan and Korea
8 Mile LE Tin
The Medallion LE Tin
Chicago - Premium Box Set (Japanese set)
Also not LE's but nice packaging from Korean sites
Equilibrium
Bulletproof Monk (which has a bullet necklace inside the package).

Amelie, for example, was licensed to Alliance Atlantis for English viewers, and includes subtitles. The French-speaking market got a deluxe box set from TVA International with no English subs.

i was browsing Amazon.co.jp's T.V. genre and came across the Spectrum Man DVD Box:
i don't know anything about the show, but you gotta love the packaging. i wonder how a Zaboga boxed set would look ?

There was a specific thread awhile ago where this very issue was somewhat discussed. I have always admired the way Scandinavians and the French in particular treat their DVD market/fans. Up until it was sarcastically pointed out to me that they are too pretentious....I suppose then so are the Japanese and the Koreans and so on.....BUT....RIGHT THERE's your answer!!

Almost forgot...here's a nice stylish presentation-very simple, yet beautiful!
AND,
another example where a total lack of the "big head" syndrom could deliver a beautiful cover work:
AND,
the latest....

Ugh, the guy selling it at a reasonable price has more than his fair share of negative feedback. Not to mention I'm in the U.S., that would be a headache.
I love the movie, but not enough to spend EUR 199,00 on it. Ah well. Thanks guys!

Considering you can get the R1 U.S. version of the series for around $40, I really don't see the packaging as being a debatable issue. No one ever says, "eh, it's only $760" when referring to a DVD.

Japan has very high standard of living. in fact, tokyo is the world most expensive place to live in. so of cos, everything is pegged according to their standard of living. so prepare to pay a high price to buy something fanciful.
