Lost In Translation - Version without forced trailers?
I would really like to get Lost In Translation on DVD, however since I read it has the unskippable trailers at the beginning, I was curious to see if there had been another region version of the movie released that doesn't have these?
This wouldn't prevent me from buying this great movie, but I figure if a version exists without them, I'd rather have that.
Thanks for any info

I believe the Canadian edition doesn't have forced trailers..and is being discussed in the DVD Covers forum on this site..the reason for that being the Canadian edition has in many peoples opinion..superior cover art to the US one.

Most recent Universal releases have trailers that cannot be skipped by hitting the menu or chapter skip buttons (though you can fast forward through them). It's just an annoyance to have to do this, so like I said above, I'd rather get a version without them. So it looks like I'll be getting the Canadian release.
Thanks RichDB10 for pointing it out.

I thought maybe I was reading it wrong when people were saying forced trailers but when I popped the DVD in and couldnt skip the promo, I was shocked, i hope this trend does not continue.

I really don't understand what's the fuss about forced trailers. Hit fast-forward and then go to the kitchen for a drink and a snack. By the time you come back the menu will be up and ready to go.

Actually, this wouldn't work. If you left the room you'd only fast-foward through the first trailer. Your playback speed resets to normal at each new trailer.

Why should we have to do that in the first place? If we allow Universal to get away with this the next step will be to take away the fast forward option as well. Then what? Put the disc in, and go take a shit and the disc will hopefully be ready to play the movie by the time you get out? It's not about the fast forwarding for 10 seconds, it's what this acceptance will lead to in the future.

Slightly (on) off-topic...
Is there a list of DVD's from Canada that are better than their US counterparts? I know that it'd be a very small list (i'm assuming) but does anyone know?

There seems to be another DVD I'd like to order from the amazon.ca site and while I was at was wondering if the rumors of the Canadian version of Lost in Translation not having the trailers at the beginning of the movie are true. Searching for Lost in Translation on the amazon.ca site brings up 2 separate widescreen DVD's.

It does not contain the forced trailers. Very nice.
