Ju-On 2 on DVD?
The "prequel" to Ju-On came out in theaters last fall. Anyone have any information on a DVD release? Preferrably R3...
Thanks!

Will be released in Japan (R2) in April. I pre-ordered the thing from cdjapan. Dunno anything about an R3 release but I'd guess at least 3 or 4 months after the Japanese release.

JuOn - The Grudge is the first movie, but 3rd in the series... there were 2 made for TV movies before that... this Juon 2 is actually the fourth one, but the second Movie. I think that's accurate. I could be wrong though.

Frankly, unless you've been living under a rock for a year or so, you'll know that there's been a hell of a lot of fuss surrounding the 2002-2003 remakes of two original TV movies, Ju-on (aka The Grudge or The Curse), and its follow-up, Ju-on 2. The remakes (also, somewhat confusingly, entitled Ju-on and Ju-on 2), to date, remain unavailable with English subtitles, despite a massive interest in the West, which is largely due to a particularly spine-tingling preview trailer which has been doing the rounds for awhile, and which of course means that everyone wants to get their hands on a copy... not least of all me ;-)
Interestingly enough, and for some unknown reason (possibly a loud ker-chinnnng!!! sound at the box office for similar films such as Ring and Kairo), the director of the two original Ju-on films (which were originally financed by Kansai TV, the same company who commissioned the brilliant TV movie Kourei), Shimizu Takashi, has remade his own movies (along with some help from Kiyoshi Kurosawa as executive producer). Why, I cannot possibly imagine, except for maybe the promise of a higher budget and more publicity this time around, presuming that the TV movies (along with their 1998 predecessor, Gakkô no kaidan G (aka School Ghost Story G), did reasonably good business on their first outing.

There's a mistake in the mandiapple review. The R3 Korean version of Ju-On does have English subtitles. It's also a 2-disk set.
Oops... There's also a mistake in my previous post. Ju-On 2 is being released Feb 25th, not April... (must've been thinking of Battlefield Baseball).

I am hoping that Ju-On 2 is just as nice. The menus are all in Korean though, so it takes a little guess work. There are some nice extras (TV Spots and Trailers for both the 1 and 2 movies) on the 2-disc R3 set.

Well, the Deluxe edition from Japan will be a 2-disk set, so wait another 6 months or so for the Korean release, which, I hope, like the first part, will have English subs.

It's been mentioned before but I thought I would put it in the "official" thread. I would assume a HK release is not far off, but at $25 for the Korean release, why wait?
