Skipped the one-disc r1 once I found out that the r2j was two discs. Here are the contents of the r2j, with the new additions bolded.
Disc 1: Main Feature Disc
16:9 LB (1.85:1 anamorphic transfer). 20 chapter stops. DTS 5.1 (768 kbps), DD 5.1 (384 kbps), DD 5.1 (Japanese, 384 kbps), DD 2.0 Commentary (192 kbps). Removable English and Japanese subtitles. Region 2 coded. Average bitrate 7.99 MB/sec. 1:53:16 running length. Special Feature: Deleted Scene "Class".
Disc 2: Extra Features
* Making of Chicago (28:27) (Removable Japanese subtitles)
* Staff & Cast Interviews (all roughly 1:00) (Renee Zellwegger, Catherine Zeta Jones, Richard Gere, Queen Latifah, John C. Reilly, Lucy Liu, Christine Baranski, Mya Harrison, Rob Marshall, Bill Condon, Fred Epp, John Kander)
* All About Chicago (Japanese TV special program) (22:11) (no English subtitles, but there are interviews with cast and crew in English thrown about the running length)
* Trailers & TV Spots (2 Original U.S.A. theatrical trailers, 5 Japanese theatrical trailers, 5 Japanese TV spots)
* Behind the Scenes (Rehearsal Footage (06:50), Recording Footage (2:43), Filming Footage (16:50), Makeup/Set Design Footage (1:38))
Plus, the set comes with a chapter list/cast & crew insert and a lyrics booklet for every song in the movie (including "Class). The DVD amaray case is housed in a cardboard slipcase with slighty different cover art than the r1.
In short, this is what the r1 should have been! If you think the r2j special edition is grand, you should have seen the Premium Box version of it, which contains extras such as perfume and stockings.
I have no specifications on the upcoming r3k.

Wow! Awesome!
I think i'll wait and find out if the specs are the same for the Korean version (I'm assuming they will be). I try to stay away from Japanese versions as they're too expensive as compared to all the other regions.
But thank you very much for posting all those specs!

I am interested in the Korean disc of CHICAGO also. However, I need a good retailer, any suggestions? The last one I used was horrible.
Thanks

koreandvds.com is damn reliable. Their shipping sucks but I've used them a few times. I haven't seen it made available at yesasia yet...or any other etailer, for that matter. I'll keep ya informed. I'm picking it up as well.

Apparently the Korean disc will only be out 30/01/04. Its available for pre-order here: http://koreandvds.com/dvddetail.html?id=11780 though I can't be certain that this is a 2 discer. Are there two editions of the Korean disc?
