X-Files (Amaray) R2??

Does anyone know what these are:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...584508-1746865

They are way too cheap to be season sets, but I don't know. I have searched around for info on this online and have found nothing yet. And the FOx TV on DVD UK site is no help whatsoever.

X-Files box sets in the UK are digipack (til now)....
In Australia (R4) they get Amaray.

Fox in the UK has been breaking apart some of their TV series box sets into individual disc releases for people who only want to buy a couple of select episodes rather than the entire season. They're doing this with Buffy as well.

Yes I thought of that, but they list it as Series 1 not Series 1 vol 1 or something similar. Or are you saying that it is a Best of the Season type release?

I am hoping this is what it is but £27 doesn't seem like a likely price for the whole season.

What I find odd, as in my post above. Is the lack of Vol. numbers (Series 2 vol 1) and that they are releasing all the series (seasons) on the same day.

It is indeed the complete series for that price in ammaray cases, the old digipacks were limited edition, and now they are re-releasing them cheaper, I hopefully can now buy all seasons for a lot less than the appaulingly prices digipack versions. I have been trying to sell my few crappy digipack versions a while so I could buy all the seasons.

Wow, that is seriously a steep discount price! Screw the R1 versions then, I might just pick these up...if of course I don't end up buying the Brazilian Filing Cabinet set.

You might also consider French R2

http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005A7F3

50 Euros per set and they stay digipack.
French cover though

So, how about this:

is that going to be the same as the one I can get in the US, just asian? I'm not familiar with exactly how that all works...?

That seems to be bootleg... since it is Region 0. I do not know for sure though.

...just because a disc is Region 0 it doesn't have to be a bootleg... many of the early Criterion DVDs, most Image DVDs, a lot of music (opera, ballet) DVDs, etcetera and so forth... are Region 0...

"As you know, most of our product is Asian import DVDs."

Yeah, I didn't know if this meant bootleg or if it was actually a release, just for the foreign markets.

The only Asian releases I know of for X-Files are the Korean releases which are about $100 a season or the Japanese releases which are $185 and both of those are R3 and R2 respectively.

AFAIK there are no R0 X-Files releases (atleast asian). From the auction: "As you know, most of our product is Asian import DVDs"

I am well aware of plenty of legit R0 DVDs, didnt think it had to be spelled out so clearly for some people on here. Put two and two together.

Generally you can be safe to assume if it has Chinese subs,is R0, cheap, and found on ebay it is a boot. Most times you will be correct in that assumption.

For the people who don't know about the new style boxes, they work like this. Inside the cardboard box is a box about the size of a videotape box, inside that are the individial disc on their own plastic "pages" ( sorry cannot think of a better word).
The overall pack is a little smaller than the old digipaks but are quite nice to look at, with slightly different cover artwork.
They have used the same new packaging for the Millenium seasons (on Oct.25 they are coming out with a 3 season boxset).
Not quite sure if they are using this for the R2 Roswell.
