Just got back from seeing Dogville at the New York Film Festival -- as expected, it is indeed a masterpiece, but won't be to everybody's liking. More theatrical than cinematic, it's message is extremely powerful nonetheless. The three hours is well worth it -- it makes the ending that much more powerful.
Kidman is not to be believed -- her performance is amazing.
Anti-American? Yes. But in a larger moral sense the criticism is universal.
I can not believe nor imagine that an hour would be cut out of the film by Lion's Gate. It would render it pointless. Seriously.
Thanks for the heads up about the Korean release -- will be buying that when it's released on the 17th.

For those who saw Dogville already, since this is a rated R film, is there any sex related materials in this film might be get cut/censor
by the Korean standard?

Anybody know when the Korean DVD will be released (or why it's been delayed)? I've seen the release date on koreandvds.com go from 10/03 to 11-15-03 to 11-30-03 to 11-28-03 to 12-15-03.
Based on the reviews, I'm contemplating on getting the Danish Dogville release and just cancelling my order at koreandvds.com.

I thought about that too but they have our money and my experience of 'foreign' (non-North American) companies is they prefer to keep it.
