Apparently there is a remote hack to make the Prism region free. The hack can be found here.
You might want to ask around and see how the player handles anamorphic PAL material. Some players out there will not do proper conversion and the picture can appear stretched.

The Cyberhome Prism got a pretty poor review over at Home Theater Mag.

Thanks for the additional info, blackacidevil. I read the info and none of it says whether or not the player does PAL conversion. If it does, based on the reviews and the fact that it has MPEG-4 support, this is an amazing player. Keeping my fingers crossed that it does do PAL.

The LiteOn does handle PAL/NTSC conversion. There's a remote hack to disable region coding and macrovision. This site has a bunch of details from someone who bought it. Only thing it doesn't mention is how the player handles anamorphic PAL.

I was very impressed by the quality of the picture with several different DVDs I have thrown to the LVD-2001. The playback is just as good as the high-end Pioneer Elite model or any of my several Sony dvd players. There were no noticeable distortion while playing French PAL DVDs. The zoom feature worked quite well. Very impressed. The EM8500 supports 480p, 576p and 720p, although it is limited to 480p for copy-protected DVDs, unless DVI/HDCP or HDMI/HDCP is used. The EM8500 can output up to resolutions of 1920x1080i or 1280x720p. Other resolutions are also possible since the scaling is programmable. However, the resolution is limited to 720x480i, 720x480p or 720x576i for copy-protected DVDs, unless DVI/HDCP or HDMI/HDCP is used.
