The HK and Tawain discs? No comparison. They shoe horned those episodes onto 1 and 2 discs on the R0.
Plus the Scandanavian discs have audio commentary with Lars and staff subtitled in English!

The four-disc set is no longer available, but you can get Parts I and II as separate 2-disc sets: http://www.laserdisken.dk/html/searc...=riget&x=0&y=0

5-mos. thread resurrection... still fresh!
Garmonbozia (or anyone), is it confirmed whether the 2-disc separate releases are the same good transfers from the 4-disc OOP set? I'm making a big laserdisken purchase today, and I'd love to add these if only I could be sure that they're from the "good" transfers!

Sorry for getting your hopes up, animatedude, but thanks for the confirmation!
I'm not sure about shipping fees, but it seems that laserdisken has a better price than cd-wow... I'm seeing £8.99/per at cd-wow (~$16.20) vs. DKK 79.20/per at laserdisken (~$13.00).
EDIT: it seems that shipping fees will put the Laserdisken total higher than CD-Wow's by a few dollars.

Cynthia, I'm planning an all von Trier order:
1. The "Europe Trilogy: Hypnotic Edition" (Element of Crime/Epidemic/Zentropa plus many extras including those an a fourth disc) - note that Tartan UK has released the exact same set, except that the disc covers and enclosed booklet have been translated to English.... arguably the better purchase for English speaking customers, but I'm going with the Danish version.
2. "Breaking the Waves" - unlike the OOP R1 from Artisan, this one's anamorphically-enhanced, uncensored and includes the originally intended "Life on Mars" instead of "Your Song" in the soundtrack (rights issues caused the change in North America).
3. Riget I and Riget II - see above! (Note that with shipping fees included, you may get a better deal at CD Wow as animetadude notes above -- however, with a large order, it may be nearly a wash. I'm having some difficulty breaking out the shipping charges, so I think I'll just get the entire order from laserdisken for simplicity's sake even if that costs me a few extra bucks.)
I believe the DVD Beaver has comparison reviews for all these releases, so check there for more info.
EDIT: I would also recommend the Danish "DOGVILLE" disc over all other versions. A very nice transfer and a fantastically loaded release. I'd be getting it today, but I've already got it!

You may need this as well (a helpful guide to ordering from Laserdisken, originally posted by garmonbozia):
Everything on Laserdisken.com is written in the Danish language, so you
probably don't understand a whole lot. You put DVDs in your basket by clicking on the blue basket symbol. Your basket is placed on the left side of your screen ("Kurven").
You go to checkout by clicking on the blue "Til kassen" link:
At Trin 2 you confirm your address. Click on "Nęste trin".
At Trin 3 you choose "Betalingskort" to pay by creditcard. Click on
"Nęste trin".
At Trin 4 you confirm your order by clicking on "Nęste trin" and you'll
be forwarded to a secure site to key in your cc info.
At Trin 5 you key in your cc info. "Kontrolcifre" is a 3-digit security
code used in Denmark and some other countries. If your credit card does
not have a security code you leave this field blank. Click on "Betal
..." to finalize the order/payment.

I had good experiences with Laserdisken too - I got my Riget 4-disc, Breaking the Waves, and (I think!) my Dogville from them.
The guide to ordering above is useful, and also, if you have a problem, you can email them in english and hear back very quickly. I think the two times I emailed them both times I had replies within the hour!
I do fancy that Europa set - but I think I'll wait and see if eventually the Tartan falls in price. English booklet would be nice too.
