Wow, those Germans sure love their Dune. Lots of sweet DVD sets coming from there...

Too bad Region 1 seems to be ignoring this title.

Yes...i've recently just picked up the German tin edition of 'Versus' and apart from the actual packaging...the quality of the transfer is a marked improvement over the Japanese R2...it will be interesting to see if the forthcoming R1 SE can match it's German counterpart in this respect.

Dune??? it's not out until July 24th

If you are referring to the German edition of 'Versus' then not that i'm aware of....there are a couple of screenshots over in a thread i started in the forum over at DVDtimes that show a few comparisons.
I no longer own the Japanese R2 so can't compare directly but confirm that from memory of the transfer the German edition is an improvement.

I was wondering about Dune..

the release date has nothing to do with advance copies sent out for review..

but i'll keep my eyes open for the next month..

thanks for the headsup RichDB10.

I wouldn't expect a package like this to get sent out for review, at least not to many (any?) English-language reviewers.

I have a copy on preorder and will be reviewing it when I get it. In the meantime, I have photos and a brief review of the last German "Paradise Edition" of this title on my Dune page:

http://www.mindspring.com/~dunestuff

Hopefully this will be an improvement.

I WANT THAT SUCKER NOW!!! its only money, and hey I like the film, and what better edition will there ever be? Amerivca has no chance in the future of a good version, and here in UK theres already 2 crap versions, so Germany seems the best place. Now to find it cheap? or cheaper than 60 quid.

The "Paradise Edition" has quite a number of supplements, much of it text (in German, unfortunately) relating to the production of the movie. There are sections for storyboards and production art, information about previous failed attempts to film the novel by Ridley Scott and Alejandro Jodorowsky, excerpts from songs that make reference to the book, a detailed description of all the differences between the theatrical cut and TV cut, etc.

I don't think they ship overseas - they have no shipping prices for customers outside Europe and they also don't offer paying with credit card...

From the shipping confirmation email:

=========================================
unser Vertriebszentrum hat den unten stehenden Artikel soeben
verschickt! Die Sendung geht an:

blah
blah
blah
...

Bestellt Titel Preis Versandt Zwischen-
summe
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Dune - Der Wuestenplanet - Perfect Collection [3 DVDs + CD] EUR 68,10 1 EUR 68,10

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Zwischensumme: EUR 68,10
Porto und Verpackung: EUR 15,50
Endbetrag: EUR 83,60
===========================================

So hopefully, things should be just fine... perhaps Amazon have some sort of exclusive rights that allow them to ship before other etailers?

Oh, and Rogue588... shall do

I'd be interested on hearing your opinions of this set also hardtack and especially from Josh Z once he receives his as he has got a lot of releases to compare it to and let's hope Marketing Films do a better job than Laser Paradise.

OK..the packaging looks very nice let's hope the actual quality of the discs come up to par.
Incidentally, how do those 4 discs fit into the cases...2 discs stacked on top of each other per case?..or is there some kind of divider/flap in there that i can't make out?

Is this the extended cut, or the theatrical cut?
