Wasabi DTS
I'm gonna ask this again since I don't see it answered anywhere. Does anyone own the Region 3 Wasabi disc in DTS? How does the audio compare to the region 1? How about subtitle translation?
And I currently don't care about anamorphic transfer.

Yeah, I know the R1 version does have a really great DD 5.1 track. That's why I was curious to see if the DTS track could actually improve over that. The R3 version is just so much cheaper.

I haven't seen the R1, but I have the R3. I've been very happy with it, great sound, good picture (I don't think it's anamorphic, I forget, but I've got a 4:3 tv anyway), and a-ok subs. I like it..

R3 all the way. The movie is good but not great enough to warrant shelling out for the R1. The PQ is great (better than good). I am a big Reno fan, so this is a keeper to me.

As 16x9 ehancement isn't important to you, then the HK disc will suffice. The DTS isn't much of an improvement (not the same DTS mix as is on the R2 Pal French release) so the sound department isn't much of a deal breaker outside of the placebo effect. If cost savings is the ultimate goal, then take the HK disc. If DTS is the primary consideration, then reconsider. If you happen to not need the English subitltes, then it's worth noting that Cinestore (perhaps other stores too?) has the French disc on sale for 8 Euros less than it normally retails for.
