Robocop Trilogy SE Release

I know that this has shown up in other regions already. What I want to know is where and which version is best. And if there's gonna be a R1 release soon.

I don't know about an R1 release, but R4 Australia (dual-encoded for R2) is the only region where you can get the first Robocop (Director's Cut, Anamorphic, DD 5.1) WITHOUT having to spring for the rest of the trilogy, and therefore it's much cheaper. The first is very obviously the best one and has the most additional features.

Plus there have been reports that the Robocop SE R4 (which would appear to be the same as the UK R2) suffers from some incredibly bad non-seamless branching to integrate the director's cut. IIRC you can find the reviews via dvd-basen.dk.

I have the R3 version and you can get it without the other two (I did) and it IS the directors cut with no seamless branching.

The Japanese R2 version is available here for around $20.

Wow, didn't know there was a Japanese R2 of Robocop, and it's NTSC!! ... hmph. Does anyone own this version? Is it the directors cut? Does it have Verhoevan's commentary? Is it "seemless" branching between directors cut and theatrical?

Please see my post above. Mine is R3 and NTSC. I'm ASSUMING it's the same deal. Mine doesn't have both versions...just the directors cut and YES it does have the commentary and other extras.

I've got the region 2 Japanese version of Robocop.
The extras it has are:
Commentary by Paul Verhoeven
Making of Documentary
Deleted Scenes
Promotional Real
Storyboards
Photo Gallery
Original Trailer and TV Spots

It's in 5.1 DD and clocks in at 103 minutes. It's put out be MGM here and has a "Special Edition" banner at the top.
Haven't seen it for a bit so I don't remember how smooth the seamless branching is.
And like RichardW mentioned, it's about $20.

Does Koreandvd.com carry the new box set? I see a box set there but its advertised as being from 20 Century Fox, not MGM. Any info?

I can't remember the name of the place that i got it from but there are about 3-4 places right there. I'd say only 1 of them is really good and that's where i find most of the imports. They're on the same block.

I know none of that helped but check that one thread about the dvdtalk outing. It should all be in there.
