The new Wellspring release of Ran is region-free

The transfer for the new release is one big improvement on the Fox Lorber copy, thank heavens. It's already - I think - been documented that it isn't perfect but I'm very thrilled by what is now available. One amusing extra on the disc is a restoration comparison with the previous disc. I've got the old disc and while it is an ugly thing it's nowhere near as poor as the comically muddy picture shown here; it's as though Wellspring (aka Fox Lorber ?) feel that they have to grossly overstate how bad the old disc was.

The new picture has a high contrast look and is definitely digitised, which slows the speed infinitesimally. One good piece of news to add is that it appears to be region free since it plays on both my reg 1 and reg 2 machines.
