Ame agaru (After the Rain) DVD ?
Does someone own the Japanese SE of this film? According to cdjapan it should have english subtitles. There's also another Japanese release without any extras. Also a French release seems to be pretty good qualitywise, but without english subtitles.
Any other versions available?

So it seems... too bad that the Japanese discs are so expensive. French releases are usually reasonably priced but almost never contain english subtitles, e.g. the Kurosawa Box Set, which I'm planning to buy anyway. Hopefully there will be another cheaper release in the U.S. or Europe, because the film is excellent.

There's a guy at the kungfufandom ezboard who has the movie as well as a DVD writer and I'm waiting to see if he'd be willing to make a copy for me.

"...French releases are usually reasonably priced but almost never contain english subtitles..."
...and why, pray tell, should the French - who make DVDs for the French(-language) market - have English subtitles on their release(s) of Japanese (or Italian, or German, or Taiwanese, etc.) movies...?... Does e.g. Criterion provide French subtitles on their releases of Japanese (or Russian, or German, or Italian, or Iranian, etc.) movies...?... does kino...?... etc.
