Any online store carrying Phoebe Cates' Paradise?
I see the R2 up for sale fairly regularly at fleabay but they always sell for top dollar.
Is there anywhere else I can purchase a copy from? These sellers must be buying them from somewhere and I'd rather cut out the middleman
Thanks

CD Japan has it, but it's still around $32 since most DVDs are priced higher over there. The good news is that it looks to be anamorphic according to their site.

i was very disappointed in the R2 japanese disc of this.
anamorphic? yes- but it is also riddled with compression related artifacting.
very poor job for a bare bones discs that costs over $30.
just found out there is a R0 NTSC Korean import of this, also anamorphic.
has anyone seen this?
its at least 1/2 the price of the japanese version, so i will probably order it anyway,. but would appreciate feedback on it regardless

sorry to hear that.
with the R0 one i am talking about, the dealer specifically mentions that there is no optical censoring (of Cates...i could care less about Willie).
i would assume that would mean these would have to be two completely different transfers.
is your version anamorphic?

ckolchak - also, you might want to confirm the runtime. KoreanDVDS has Paradise at 93 minutes, although IMDB makes mention of 100 and 96 minute versions.
3 minutes of cuts? (versus the Japanese version)
Interested in hearing how this goes since I've been waiting for this one to come out as well.

ok, apparently there are several versions of this available- if the one poster in this thread is correct that his is a R3- that makes 4 different versions.
one is the Japanese NTSC R2 (cover has a blue border)
one is Korean R0 (cover has an orange band)
i've just seen another one being advertised that is supposedly a 'higher bit rate' disc, also R0 NTSC, most likely also Korean .
it also has the most different cover art of the three and is priced between the japanese and the cheaper Korean disc.
leaving out Northshores copy for the moment, all of these are supposed to be anamorphic enhanced and are not optically censored.
so has anyone seen this 'higher bit rate' version?
Willie was censored on the Japanese R2 disc as well.
i'm betting this Korean company is just taking the Japanese disc and making a direct port of it, maybe changing the menu screens and package art.

there was no censoring of Cates. Censored scenes were Willie's *****
