I've had THE DRIVER on order from dvdoo for 3 months, and finally just got a short email from them informing me that they couldn't get anymore and that they were cancelling my order.
Does anyone have a copy they could sell or trade me?!?

You can try these guys; http://www.dvdnorden.com/
Looks like they've got the Driver in stock. Don't know if they'll ship to the US though. Mail them and ask at [email protected]
It says on the webpage that http://www.dvd.se/ does have a few copies of The Driver in stock, and they do in fact ship to other contries. Mail them and ask how much the shipping is at [email protected]
You can also check out https://www.dvdsverige.com/ They also seem to have it in stock. You can mail them at [email protected]
All these stores are located in Sweden, and they all charge around 100 SKR for The Driver, which translates to about $10.

Stick with the north European version because the German The Driver rates as one of the worst discs I've ever seen.
I guess they're running short as many people have been reading these threads.

That's weird. It says on their webpage that they should ship to other countries. Maybe they only ship to other Scandinavian countries.
By the way, you may also want to try http://www.leffat.com/
It's a Finnish website, but they do ship to Sweden, so maybe they ship to the US as well. Mail them at [email protected]

Plus the stores I mentioned in an earlier post:
---------------------------------
Try contacting the distributor On-Air-Video
The only 2 other Danish stores I know are www.dvdmekka.dk and www.proshop.dk

Thanks for all the suggestions, Yocke and Lucas, but so far I've had no luck. I've heard back from almost all the Swedish etailers you've listed and, so far, nobody ships abroad. (That's the sound of me sighing...)

I picked up a copy of the Swedish (?) R2 PAL DVD from a US retailer. Nice anamorphic transfer with solid mono (no hiss & all dialogue is easy to understand). Great film too!

I just received the R2 Danish DVD. Good transfer, good sound. It was new and not used, bought it on ebay, paid 12.99 GBP and 2.00 GBP shipping and handling. I bought it from Eldar Subasic, eBay ID: dvd-bargains. There were two on sale when I bought this one. This dealer accepted paypal, the other dealer wanted cash. Watched it last night on my Toshiba 3900. Other than a little PAL time creep, it was great.

Old thread I know, but just wanted to mention this.
I picked this up from a UK dvd outlet last night. The guy mentioned that it is not easy to come by, and I was surprised to see it, so snapped it up straight away.
I assume it's the Scandinavian R2, but does not mention a region on the cover.
Had a quick look at the film, transfer seemed reasonable - a bit of grain and print damage in places, but nothing too distracting. I suppose a restoration on a older movie like this would be too much to hope for . An anamorphic print is good enough for me, and mono sound is fine.
Classic 70's movie, with great minimalist acting, and some of the best driving sequences ever filmed.
