I am looking for a region free dvd player. I have most of these movies, but I can always gove them away. Is this a good deal for a region free player?

these days, if a region free doesn't convert pal/ntsc, then no it isn't...and this one doesn't seem to have that capability...for a little more the pal/ntsc conversion is a must.

Thanks!
I keep reading about this Cyber Home CH-DVD 500, but it's not available on BB website.
Are there any good inexpensive ones? I don't really watch region coded DVDs, but I have a few now that aren't working on my regular DVD player.

A good deal? Not so much.
The link to Amazon's Cyber Home 500 indicates that it isn't yet available.
The DVDs in the YesAsia deal look like region 0 dvds. I believe if you go somewhere like DDDhouse, you'll find them for about $40 HK.
That means you're probably paying close to $140.00 US for the DVD player that doesn't convert PAL --> NTSC.
If the DVDs you have are PAL-formatted, this player does you no good.
It isn't even necessary to play the DVDs they're including.
If you can't find a CH500, save your dough and get something like the Malata, JVC, or Jaton.
Just my two taels worth.
J.

Re: Which Malata?
I wish I knew. The more I read about these players, the more confused I get. HKFLIX offers a variety, including a 520 model that features standby w/the remote control.
Now I read somewhere there's a 600 model coming out soon. I keep reading about the problems people have, so I just don't know.
I think if I was going to fork out the dough for a machine, I'd lean towards one of the JVC models because of the apparent reliability factor. Myself, I'd shell out the extra bucks for the JVC 602 because that model plays audio DVDs.
Good luck in your quest.
