HELP! Looking for Asian Disney DVds

Hi,

I'm looking for Disney DVDs from Asia that I can play on our region 1 DVD player here in the US.

I'm looking for the Little Mermaid, Lion King1, Lady and the Tramp and the Jungle Book.

I can't find these anywhere, but on EBay at prices I can't afford. I would love to find those for my kids for Christmas...

Thanks for any suggestions or help!

Are you specifically looking for Asian language subtitles? I do not know which titles of those you mentioned were released in Asia (HK? China? Malaysia?), but all the Disney titles that were released in HK were R3 discs ... R0 discs would most likely be bootlegs.

I live in the Us and am looking for DVDs with the English soundtrack. It doesn't matter if it is subtitled. I just want to find these for my kids...

Can I play the Region 3 on my DVD player?...

If you don't have an all-region player which allows you to change the region coding, then no, R3 won't play on your R1 player.
Apart from regions, there is also the issue of TV standards (NTSC vs. PAL, with PAL being really common mostly in Europe). Not every DVD player will convert from NTSC to PAL or vice versa.
For what's available, you may want to check http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/ for pricing and retailer information. As to which titles were published where, http://dvd-basen.dk is an excellent starting point.

Why not just get the American versions?

That'd explain it.
