Visitor Q. The blurs.
Just watched this last night and found it very enjoyable. Doesn't dsiplace DOA as my favourite Miike but still good stuff, reminded of when I was a youngster watching John Waters vids. Anyway my query is obviously about the genital blurring, it occurs in several scenes and not in others and I was wondering if this was done when it was shown originally. I think it was made for Japanese TV and got some theatrical distribution aswell, anyone enlighten me as to how this blurring came about?

DVD Talk Ultimate Edition
The blurs were in the original version, whether TV or theatrical. I don't think an "uncensored" version in this sense has ever been released, and to me it doesn't matter that much. Just like the "****" policy we have here at DVD Talk, the censoring only heightens the obscenity.

Thanks tyler. I suspected that it was like that but pleased to get it confirmed. I agree that it doesn't detract from the film but I did find it a little distracting sometimes, which is why I posted in the first place. Thanks again.

Japan as outlandish as it's movies sometimes get are not aloud to show genitalia in their films. Even a lot of porn in Japan has the genitals blurred out, even in magazines. Of course they can show breasts on t.v. but we can't. You win some, you lose some. No I don't think it takes away from the film either.
