tai chi master
this is my favorite jet li movie

once upon a time in china 1, 2
these are also excellent..the 2nd one is my favorite, but they're all worth watching. the first two are way better than the others, imo (and "once upon a time in china & america" is sort of interesting, but not too good).

new legend of shaolin
i also like this one..features the badass kid that's also in my father is a hero (another one worth watching)

fong sai yuk
good mix of kung fu action and some comedy.

these are my favorites off the top of my head..

skokefoe.

Toss that hacked, dubbed, fraudulent piece of Dimension drek "The Enforcer" in the garbage where it belongs and get the REAL version: "My Father is a Hero." ALL HONG KONG ACTION AND MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES RELEASED BY MIRAMAX, DIMENSION, AND NEW LINE CINEMA ARE INCOMPLETE AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS BY ANYONE EVEN REMOTELY CONCERNED WITH THE QUALITY OF A FILM.

The version of Fist of Legend you have is probably the Dimension release, too, and thanks to these swine purchasing that film's WORLDWIDE distribution rights, there is no COMPLETE version with the original language tracks AND English subtitles in print anywhere (legally, anyway). Same goes for Drunken Master 2 (Miramax title: "Legend of Drunken Master"). They thought the ending was offensive, so now every version of that movie legally in print, including the one in Hong Kong, is missing the ending.

Columbia TriStar's current policy with foreign films is to only purchase and release the most complete version available...which, of course, is the only policy that is even remotely sensible. Unfortunately, they have released a few dub only, incomplete Jet Li and Jackie Chan movies in the past. Here they are, with original Hong Kong titles in parentheses:

Legend of the Red Dragon (New Legend of Shaolin)
Contract Killer (Hitman)
Meltdown (High Risk)
The Prisoner (Island of Fire)
Who Am I? (same title; this one was in English to begin with, but US release has scenes cut)
Gorgeous (same title; US release has original Cantonese language track but is cut by 22 minutes)

If still in print, the Thakral release of DMII and the Ritek release of FOL are alternatives to supporting Disney. DMII is uncut, in the original Cantonese, with English subtitles (removeable if I recall correctly). However, it is formatted to 1.85:1 instead of the correct 2.35:1.

FOL is uncut and in the correct aspect ratio, but only has a Mandarin track. English subtitles.

Not ideal, but they work for me. Anything to avoid buying the U.S. bastardized versions.
