Anybody else getting into this habit....

As the owner of a Multi-region player i've began to notice lately how many versions of the same film i'm tending to collect in the effort to find the 'definative' version and was just thinking about the fact i'm soon to have my 3rd version of 'The Brotherhood Of The Wolf' (R2 Ltd edition France,Canadian SE & French 4 disc UE) other examples would include:

Audition (R2 German & R1 US releases)
Suspiria (Anchor Bay: R1 & R2 releases)
In The Mood For Love (Criterion and R2 French SE)

I'm probably being fairly 'anal' as i realise it's the actual film itself that is of prime importance so in essence i'm probably more of a DVD enthusiast as opposed a true 'film' enthusiast but i'm fairly sure i won't be alone in this instance.

I think you're in the wrong forum for this. But have you been to Rewind?

Yes..i've used that site before....i think i've really expanded upon the question i really meant to ask and made it more specific to myself.

What i was trying to get at..was if anybody had multiple versions of the same film regardless of region etc (ie...same region just different studios releases etc.)

Same here....

In The Mood For Love (Criterion and R2 French SE).

Now im contemplating:

Battle Royale SE R2 after having the R3 version, &
Pierrot le Fou R2(Fr) after the R1.

Think we need to seek professional help for this fixation.

Hmm, the only one I think I have at the moment is Battle Royale...
HK R3, VCD, and the R0 Tartan release or something...

I imagine though that soon I will have others. (i.e. HKL versions of stuff I already have -Jackie Chan, CYF, etc.)

Cheers,
Gabe

Not yet. But I hate when I am fooled and get:
- Pan & Scan !
- A non anamorphic tranfer
- Aspect ratio is incorrect
- Movie is cut
- Transfer is crap

So I try to buy the right edition (whatever the region) in order to not have to buy again later. But you can't prevent new edition.
Regarding bonuses I do not really care as I watch them only once.
