Dersu Uzala 3-Disc Spectrum DVD... Image Quality???

I found the first 2 disc's to be almost unwatchable as the Shimmering/Shifting of colors was insane!!! I've got a properly calibrated 32" Sony Wega w/16x9 and it looked horrible! I put in the English version on the 3 disc and it's Letterbox transfer looked a lot better!!!

Arrrggggghhhh... I'm using a Malata n996 so it could be a flagging problem??? I dunno, it's frustrating. It's such a nice set too...

Anybody else have any comments on the Image Quality of this DVD(s).

Any Updates ??

Hi there
I am currently thinking about adding it to my collection, but having read your comments I am seriously having doubts -
they have it on HKFlix.com for $22.

What is on the 3 Disks?

Does anyone have any additional comments about this Title ?
Does anyone have the US release how does it compare?

...the Korean three-disc release is the RUSCICO release, with the 'American Version' added as a 'bonus' third disc...

. . . . . .

Note that Spectrum contains two different cuts and transfers of the film.

Spectrum Disc 1 is identical to Ruscico.
Spectrum Disc 3 is nearly identical to Image, dvdcompare gives the slight advantage to Image, although I like Spectrum according to the screenshots.

I had the Ruscico for about 2 minutes before I sold it on ebay - the quality is as bad as the screenshots above suggest. And to think that I sold my Image in order to get the Ruscico! Next time I wait before giving money to the Russian Cinema Council.

The only other hope is the Japanese release coming up on Nov. 21, but I fear that it does not have English Subs - and it's a hefty $50.

I sold my Image waiting for the Russico release, and then decided to get the Spectrum release when I heard about it... I'm just glad they included the US cut, man the Russico is a POS transfer!!! I do think the Spectrum looks a slight bit better than the Image. I also noticed the Disc One release has different (and worse if I remember) subs than the Disc 3 US cut... It's too bad because the packaging is great!!!
