Back of "The Others" R2 dvd states commentary?
Does anyone know for sure if the disc actually has the commentary. I've heard it's not on the disc itself. Can anyone confirm?

Which R2 version are you referring to? There are several. I own the Spanish version which has audio commentary in, believe it or not, Spanish DD 5.1 EX and Spanish DTS. There are no English subs for the commentary.

Looking for a review of the Region 2 Spanish release of "The Others"
Does anyone know of a online review of the Region 2 DTS edition of "The Others"? I was just curious to know if the DTS track is any better than the HK release?

Haven't seen the HK version but I own the Spanish version. Unfortunately, I've yet to watch it... I hope to view it this coming weekend.
The HK version is p&s though isn't it? The Spanish disc is 16:9.

...ahh... the grass always seems greener, doesn't it...!?!...
...fwiw, you might take into consideration that the two-disc Spanish CE includes, not one, but two DD 5.1 EX soundtracks as well as, not one,
but two dts 5.1 soundtracks...

okay, but does it have the director's commentary. There is some conflicting info that the UK Region 2 edition does or does not include a director's commentary track. Can anyone verify one way or the other that the UK release does in fact have a director's commentary track??

...fwiw: here is a picture of the back cover of the Spanish CE - note there is no mention of a Director's commentary (unless Presentación A. Amenábar is Español for 'running commentary')...
(...I just love to add my 2¢ to an already thoroughly confusing thread!...

well, there is that third language track that I can't seem to read (my eyesight's failing me). Since Codefree seems to have a copy in his hands, I would assume he is correct in denoting a commentary track.

...ahh... my eyesight hasn't improved any in the past xxx years... also, I am looking at the display on a 5-year-old laptop... but... yes!... you're right!!... there it is, in very small print: Comentario del Director... well, there you have it then... BUT... is the commentary in Español (most likely, I'd say) or is it in Inglès (with Spanish subtitles)... or, conversely (not to say perversely) would the commentary on the UK release - assuming there is one - be in Spanish, with English subs... or does the Director indeed speak English well enough to 'do' a commentary in that language? (listening to someone talk in heavily accented English for 90+ minutes can be a very tiring, not to say disheartening experience!)...
...and so it goes...

but even on Amazon's French website that edition also denotes a director's commentary track (English, Spanish?). codefree, or anyone else for that matter a definative answer would be great.

...again - and still - fwiw: here's a review of the UK release...
...note: no commentary... also no DTS...
...which leads me to assume(!) that the commentary on the Spanish release is UNSUBTITLED Spanish... but, as so often, I may be wrong...

You're not wrong, Hendrik. Look here.
So, the commentary is in Spanish and it's not subtitled. Sorry, guys.
FWIW, his commentary on Abre los ojos wasn't very enlightening: 50 per cent narration ('Now he's watching the TV story on crionization'
) and 45 per cent plot explanation.
Comentarios en audio de ALEJANDRO AMENABAR, con el gran fallo de la ausencia de subtítulos en dichos comentarios.

Thanks for the info guys, looks like I am gonna go with the Spanish edition just for the DTS track. If you could let us know your thoughts on the disc codefree, when you get a chance to watch it, that would be great.
