Discs in Germany

A friend of mine is in Germany right now and asked if I wanted him to pick any DVDs up. Anyone have an recommendations for discs available in Germany?.

I'm thinking of stuff thats only available zone 2 from Germany that would cost a fortune to get from Amazon and take 3 months to ship.

Is there a German release of Europa Europe (Hitlerjunge Salomon ) http://us.imdb.com/Title?0099776

Anyway, hope to hear from folks.

The German R2 release of 'Audition' is a very good one to pick up..whilst not having a commentary like the U.S version it does boast probably the best transfer available and is the only release anamorphically enhanced i believe....you can see info on it here:

oh cool, and I should have mentioned too, those are some of the things I'm considering, ie, is the german release anamorphic, but I also must have English subs if the film is not in English. I'll check into that one though, thanks.

I'd definately get the German version of Fifth Element.
(Das Fünfte Element: Remastered Deluxe Edition)

English DTS-ES soundtrack and loads of extras.

Ya know, I was just thinking about you Vampyr. I checkout the thread in the internationsection and came across To Be Or Not To Be from 1942 and remembered you started a thread on that. I've already notified my friend to look for it. I hope he can find that.

They Live and Prince of Darkness are only availiable in Germany right now. They are going to be released in the UK later this year though. They include anamorphic widescreen, dolby surround and audio commentary by John Carpenter. They Live is called Sie Leben, and Prince of Darkness is Fürsten der Dunkelheit. They both have english audio and subtitles.

Well your first question: Hitlerjunge Salomon is not available on dvd in Germany

Some recommendations :

If you like the packaging you could get the basic instinct 2 dvd set with the soundtrack cd (engl. dts, 5.1, no forced subtitels, anamorphic)

Braindead

engl. DD 2.0

Dellamorte Dellamore

not as good as the Italian version but low priced

Perhaps I remeber some more titles later

BTW: Which location does your friend visit in Germany?

With the Italian version of Dellamorte out, i wouldn't recommend the German Red Edition.

Anthropophagus perhaps?
