Best portable DVD player for imported discs?
the AIWA XD-DW5 seems to be a good choice.. it's region free-able and apparently can play PAL discs.. anyone know of any other good portables able to play PAL and region free?

yup, i am very happy w/ the player. i really broke it in during a long vacation and it worked great! it was a real lifesaver for the plane ride for my kid!
i got it from here:
http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/portable/index.htm
note that their price for me was higher b/c of the exchange rates - they charged me in HK dollars and when i did the conversion, it was like $50 more! but it is still, of course, cheaper than anything else. also, they seem to have several storefronts but they seem legit. i didn't have any problems getting it from them and they included the power adapter for free like i requested.
btw, the 7" is really great when 3 kids want to watch the same thing!

other than aesthetics, i assume only the size of the screen is the main difference. i'm not sure about the 960, but mine can do 16x9. but it only supports s-video or rca (better not lose the included mini to svideo/rca cable
). i would assume the 960 can do anamorphic. and i didn't have to pay customs.
off the top of my head, it came w/:
mini to svideo cable
mini to rca cable
mini to stereo rca cable (there is a digital out, but no supplied cable)
crappy headphones
thin remote - easily loseable and not all functions are on the player so don't lose it.
hope that helps
