Enough already with spoof commentaries !
The cod commentary track on the Coen Bros Blood Simple
was bad enough but now Verhooven has one on the new
region 2 release of Basic Instinct. An alleged English professor
called Camille La Paglia talks about the empowered woman
and the eroticised gaze all through the movie (or I assume
she does because I could only take about three minutes of this
"joke").

I am pretty sure that the "COMMENTARY WITH FEMINIST CRITIC CAMILLE PAGLIA" (as it is written on my dvd case - Region 1 release) is real.
I listened to the whole thing while I was doing dishes and cooking one day, so wasn't giving it my full attention, but I don't remember it being a bad commentary. Actually I thought both commentaries and the discussion of the controversy of the film's release to be interesting since I don't remember much of the media surrounding this film.....I guess I just wasn't paying attention at the time (I was in high school).

Reading Keith's The Maxx taught me a thing or two.
