The U.S. version had better video and sound, but has a redone musical score and has been cut slightly (like 2-3 minutes)

The HK version is the "uncut" version. It has the orginal music but the video quality isnt as great as the US version.

If you love nice video, get the US version. If you want the orginal version (without the minor cuts and new score) get the HK version.

I havent seen Iron Monkey 2, i heard it has very little to do with the orginal (it takes place in the 1930's). I also heard it sucks ass.

If your player is region free and can do PAL , pick up the Hong Kong Legends version of Iron Monkey from the UK. I just received it in the mail yesterday and it's an outstanding release. I thought the video end looked great and it has the original score and is uncut which was important to me.

Totally agree this movie was horrible. I promptly sold it on ebay.

Didn't even finish it. I bet the people who bought it on ebay are selling it in an endless circle to other... and so forth and so forth... can't think off a more wretched movie than that...

I agree that the 2nd one was very poor. I only made it thru 10 minutes before fast forwarding to about 20, then 30 mins. into it. The unsteady/jiggly camera work made my eyes hurt. I never finished it. Luckily it was one I borrowed from a friend. (He had accidentally picked it up at BB thinking it was Iron Monkey 1)

thanks for all the good advice. iron monkey 2 looked like it sucked, but i wanted to make sure.

i think i'll get the u.s. version. unedited movies are important to me, but so is picture quality and sound. i can't imagine you miss too much with only a few minutes edited out...
