Momentum are releasing this great show in a box set on July 1st. Blackstar have it up for pre-order but the date’s wrong.

Sweet TV series boxsets are like manna from heaven. Plus CSI in my opinion, is the best drama to come along in years!

That is great news! TV shows on DVD in other regions is the main reason I picked up a region free player.

Any chance that this will be Widescreen??

After watching this season in High Definition, there is no way I will buy them on DVD. Ugh.

The fact that it's called Vol 1.1 leads me to believe this isn't the entire first season. At about $45 for one volume, that's going to make a pretty expensive first season.

It’s 12 episodes - approx $4 an episode. Not too bad IMO.

"C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation" coming to R2 in July!

From DVD Fever:

Momentum Pictures Home Entertainment announces the VHS & DVD release of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Season 1: Part 1

Release date: 01 July 2002

Time to break out a fresh pair of latex gloves and seal the living room with incident tape!

Cult forensics drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation series one is out to own on video and DVD, with the unorthodox Gil Grissom and his team using any scientific means necessary to secure the evidence required for a conviction. This highly acclaimed series produced by Alliance Atlantis and aired on Channel 5 gripped the crime-obsessed public in the UK and the US - where it has even overtaken the no.1 show ER in the ratings and lives up to its hype.

'CSI is shaping up to be this year's Sopranos' - Sunday Times

The DVD includes: exclusively designed menu screens with 3d animated virtual labs for you to browse, interviews with all main cast members, executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Anthony E Zuiker (Executive Producer and Creator) and Elizabeth Devine (Technical Advisor - Forensic scientist) and make-up artists.

On DVD the first 3 disc set, covering episodes 1-12, will be released on 1st July 2002. DVD box set: £39.99.

On VHS the series will be divided up into 2 x 3 VHS sets, episodes 1-12 released on July 1st 2002. VHS box set: £29.99

I just ordered this set at amazon's U.K. site. It was listed on the page at 31.99 pounds, and was listed as such while in my cart. When I actually started checking out the price went down to 27.99 pounds! With shipping to the U.S. my total was 31.30 pounds or roughly $43. Bensons World was 35.95 pounds with free shipping and Blackstar was about the same but shipping isn't free.

The price difference came from the VAT refund.

IMO Amazon UK is the best choice for DVD sets because of their VAT rebate (and single item rate for the whole set).

What is the date for CSI exactly? July, or May?

Is this not the correct ratio?

Since it was filmed in widescreen and broadcast in the US in high definition, why wouldn't the DVD be 16:9?

Sometimes simple economics.. they may not have a W/S PAL master available and not want to incurr the expense..

two cases in point -

Andromeda is filmed w/s, broadcast 4:3 in the US and UK. The UK releases are 4:3 for the main program but 16:9 for the 'deleted scenes'! The US releases will be 16:9 in August.

Relic Hunter is filmed w/s, broadcast 4:3. The Japan releases are 4:3, the upcoming R2 releases are 16:9
