Does a list exist on the net with ALL of the differences
between the Criterion and RUSCICO Andrei Rublev?
I know about the Tartar Battle, but I have read about even
small takes of the horse's running being different.
A consise list would be a great supplement for both.
Thanks!

Most differences were posted by Richard Malloy in this thread in a Criterion forum... (which is currently closed)

Is there a problem with the RUSCICO ver. of Solaris?
On disc 1 the English dub changes to Russian with English subtitles
from Chapter 7 (27 min +/-) up to Chapter 11 (45 min +/-)
and then the English dub comes back on?
The audio track stays as "English" for the whole disc?
The VOB files of disc 1 are dated 08/06/2001
The VOB files of disc 2 are dated 08/23/2001
I did not get a chance to check out disc 2 yet?
??

Some of the parts of the movie were never dubbed in English.

According to St.P.

FYI, St. Petersburg expect the new corrected Stalker DVD in early April. (They promise to put it on their front page when it arrives.) That probably means RbcMp3.com will have it around that time as well.

No comparision was done yet, because it's too early. Here's reviews for Ruscico discs of those titles -

Cranes Are Flying
Ballad of a Soldier

Good news about Ruscico - they just released another disc. Bad news to most people - it's in their Fairy Tales Collection (the movies is Snow Maiden).

Bad news about one of the Ruscico resellers. Apparently, St. Petersburg book store known here as www.st-p.com was raided by FBI last week. They confiscated thousands of counterfeited videos. This might lead to closing of the store, so I would be careful while dealing with them right now.

According to DVDTimes' review of the Artificial Eye Stalker disc, RusCiCo's Stalker 2.0 is out and identical to the UK edition. However, they may be wrong since the UK edition has both the original and butchered audio tracks and RusCiCo claimed the re-release wouldn't have the butchered track. Personally I'd just say "screw it" and get the Artificial Eye release.

OFFTOPIC!

Completely offtopic:

As a kid, I used to love the Russian children's magazine Misha. In fact, I had a 3 year subscription to them!

Ashirg or someone with Russian ties, is there someplace I can get these mags (in English)? Or have they been discontinued after the collapse of the Soviet Union?

Misha and all those fairy tales while I was a kid, Mikhail Sholokhov at the age of 15...

Those were some good times.

So, any news on Stalker 2.0?

I notice on the RBC site, there is a cover image with a 2 in the upper right corner. Can't make out what's written under it.

Also, I'm gonna hold off on Solaris till I see what Criterion does with it, but I'd like to try one other Ruscico if I do order Stalker - what do you recommend?

I see several of the Ruscico's upcomming releases have been pushed back: Dersu Uzala, Mirror and Sadko were all supposed to be out 1. or 2. Q 2002, they are now listed as 3. and 4.
