Shaolin Soccer DVD: Is turning off the "special" logo possible?
It's so annoying to watch this movie and have that damn logo pop up every 5 minutes. Any way to shut it off?
I have a Malata N996.

Most DVD players allow you to turn off the "on screen display" feature, which usually pops up "stop", "play", etc. on the screen when you press it. Disabling that should stop it. That worked for me on "The Following".

The Shaolin Soccer logos are part of the subtitle track. You can shut off the subtitles and they go away, but unless you speak Cantonese that's not really an option.

Anyway - yeah - the logo is part of the subtitle track. Annoying isn't it? I also didn't care for having to sit through the long menu sequence every time I had to visit the menu. That shortened my life by about an hour I'm sure.

Primarily 'twas about Matt stipulating what DVD player he had. I know he has more than one but it just tickled me for some reason. Of course, given the nature of question, it was esssential that he was precise, hence my advance apology.... Q.E.D.

I don't get it...
I thought those pop-ups don't appear when you click on "On Air" (instead of "Special Version") to play the normal version of the movie anyway?
Or are you guys talking about something else altogether?

They screwed the DVD up, thus you see the logos whether selecting On Air or Special Version. They needed two seperate sets of English subtitles, one with the logos, one without. Instead the DVD only has the one english subtitle track with the logos. It was speculated whether Universe would fix this on later pressings, but that has not yet been the case.
