I finally used www.dvdland.it for an international purchase, their prices were very reasonable including shipping and handling charges. Packaging was impressive as was their on-line dial-up inquiry line (English speaking).
DVDs took 9 days to get from Italy to Australia, I will definitely use dvdland.it for all future purchases.

I just placed my first Italian Order as well. I was very impressed with the system though it was unclear sometimes if discs had English subs or not.

Do Italian discs generally have English subs?

I've been wondering about dvdland.it too. Do they remove the 16% VAT tax from the cost of the DVDs for orders shipped to the US?

If I remember correctly (from my order with them 3 months ago) their price as listed does not include VAT, so the price for orders shipped to the US would be just the listed price plus shipping.

With respect to packaging, my DVDs came bubble-wrapped but enclosed in a rather flimsy envelope which arrived sufficiently tattered I felt lucky the package didn't get misdelivered or lost.

Everything considered I would order from them again.

I was charged the price listed on their Website (no discount for VAT). I don't think that it is mentioned anywhere on their website that they will remove VAT.

I was happy anyway as actual postage charged was reasonable, in fact the face value of postage on the package was greater than what I was charged.

I've previously used DVD.it and whilst delivery wasquicker through UPS (about 4 days) shipping was a killer, 4 times the cost that I was charged through DVDland.

Packaging from both e-tailers was excellent.

Where do I find older Italian movies?

Looking specifically for movies with Dominique Sanda. I just finished watching Il Giardino dei Finzi-Contini and loved her performance in it. But the list in the sticky thread only has one Italian dvd etailer with English interface and I can't even figure out that website. Any ideas? I'm looking into getting the following:

Conformista, Il (1970)
1900 (1976)
Une femme douce (1969)
Voyage en douce (1980)
Al di là del bene e del male (1977) (aka Beyond Good and Evil)

Thanks all

H

All that turned up for me on Dvdland.it & dvd.it was Garage Olimpo thru an actor search. Searches for 'Conformista', 'douce', etc. didn't turn up anything (for Dominique Sanda, anyway).

I was looking for the Italian 25th Anniversary dvd of Suspiria but dvdland.it has it listed as being available on May 16 with the distributor being Eagle. The version I want was put out by CDE/20th Century Fox, the Eagle I think is the old release. I wonder if they just haven't changed the name of the distributor in their listing? here's the link http://dvdland.it/details.asp?prodid...32&cat=2&path= , I wonder if the date of 4/16/2004 is just the date they will get them back in stock because regardless if it's the Eagle or the CDE/20th Century Fox release it has been out for awhile.

I'm getting ready to place my first order from an Italian e-tailer. The last thing I have to do is choose my "shipping method/payment method". I know I need to pick "Carta di Credito" for payment method. Shipping choices are "Posta Italia-CEE", "Posta Extra-CEE", and "Corriere Italia". Will any of these work for shipping to the U.S.? thanks,

Update: Nevermind, I figured out it was Posta Extra-CEE.

I have looked into dvdland & dvd.it. But I couln't find the shipping information in dvdland even with the translation of google. How much did you pay for the shipping?
As for dvd.it, the shipping cost is too expansive.

Current shipping rate is between 8-12 Euro...unless you would like to opt for the cheapest "saver" option which is around 5.50 Euro but it takes well over 2 months for discs to arrive to the US (this is the equivalent of our "media-mail" gone international)

I just registered in dvdland.it. Then it only provides me "Posta Internazionale" for 5.99 Euro to Taiwan. But the site didn't mention whether it is airmail or surface mail. Any idea?

I just want to buy "La Leggenda del Pianista sull'Oceano" 2-DVD set. Tried to look for it in ebay.it (nothing listed when searching in ebay.com), but all only ship in Italy.

Here's what I would suggest to you....

Instead of waiting for well over two months to get your discs from Italy go ahead and place an order through Xploited. I am certain you will not wait this long!!
http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=618

So, not all etailer ship from Italy *Xploited is US-based. And the disc does appear on other sites as well.

Ciao,
Pro-B

Are there any retailers which I can order a DVD of the new Dario Argento film "Terza madre, La" and get them to ship it to Canada? If so, does it have English subtitles or audio track?

I believe Medusa pushed it back. It did not come out on the 12th. The Russians are putting their own version out on the 19th:

(Russian dub only).
