The Battle Royale transfer is very nice, especially when compared to the VCD. This is quite odd as most new VCDs are looking quite nice. Probably a different print.

A few missing subtitles though (mainly on things written, like things on the blackboard). Oddly the subtitles of these are all on the VCD version (burnt in), but not the DVD version.

The sound of BR is also quite good.

Re: Please review my 1st HK order.

Audition (Universe) - haven't seen all the way through, but what I've seen so far is intriguing... I hear it's just totally sick.
St. John's Wort (Universe) - haven't seen but am ordering
Inugami (Universe) - haven't seen but am ordering
Kakashi (Universe) - haven't seen but am ordering
Uzumaki (Universe) - haven't seen but am ordering
The Isle (Universe) - I liked it, but it's very visceral and hard to watch... hope you like sick stuff (based on a few of your other choices, I assume you do.
Brother (Universe) - This film is decent - this version is uncut I believe.
The Big Heat (Megastar) - haven't seen
Story of Ricky (Megastar) - Brilliant choice
Shaolin Soccer (Universe) - Fantastic movie.
Running out of Time (Mei Ah) - I have the Tai Seng version which is nice... can't comment on this discs quality, but the film is excellent
Full Contact (Mei Ah) - can't remember if I've seen... I'm pretty sure I have it though.
Victim (Mei Ah) - haven't seen
Attack the Gas Station (Mei Ah) - fun film. You'll like.
Bichunmoo (Deltamac) scratched! get SE instead - Good idea to go with the 2 disc - great flick.
Battle Royale (Universe) - One of my top 10 of all time... Great flick
Shiri (Edko) - Get the 2 Disc version - Great flick.

Nice order... I've posted reviews of some of these if you do a search (set the date to any date, type Trigger in the member search and type "review" in the keyword search and set it to look in thread titles only and set the forum to this one).

If you can get past the dragging beginnig of Audition you will be rewarded with one of the most bizarre, creepy sick films I have seen in quite a while. Not really sure it warrants a repeat viewing but....

Brother I found to be incredibly slowwwwwwwwwwww, and just an average film.

Battle Royal was really cool and is a keeper!

Uzumaki- have but not watched yet
St. Johns Wort-have but not watched yet
Victim- I also have but have not watched yet!

If I get a chance to see any of the above in the next day or so I will let you know what I thought...

BTW have you seen the Eternal Evil of Asia??? I have that one also but have not seen it either, just wondering if anyone has an opinion on it.

Guys, thanks for the input! By the way, of the above list, I've already seen: Audition (sick indeed ), St. John's Wort, Kakashi, and The Isle, courtesy of our Fantasia film fest.

Question: Why is "The Mission" only on VCD?

Question: Also ordering Visitor Q (seen it), Ring, Ring 2, and Junk, from Poker Industries. Is Ring 2 worth it? Or is it just a crappy sequel?

Question: How many versions of Jin-Roh are there? One R3 from Dynamic (at DDDHouse), 2 from Pionneer Entertainment (regular and SE), and one French R2 collector set (2 DVD, 1CD) I found at Amazon.fr Highly confusing!

Is this the movie you mean?
If so, yes, it's on dvd, but the transfer isn't spectacular. A terrific movie IMO though.

cheers,
Gabe

If you're going to get the SE of Bichunmoo, I recommend picking up the Spectrum release of Attack the Gas Station also since the Mei Ah release is full screen.

That's it! I could sware only the VCD was available yesterday.

Anyway to tell the "Remastered" edition from the earlier one? The covers are identical from what I could tell from Asiandvdguide.

Cool sounds like I will enjoy it.

Also I was able to watch St. Johns Wort yesterday. Pretty cool flick with a creepy premise. It was a pleasent suprise! The only thing is that however they filmed it, with the way out there colors, was a little annoying.

Thanks for the replies, I put my order in! Aside from the minor inconvenience of having to find a scanner because Johhny seems to want a scan of your credit card on your first order, all is well. Can't say I blame him though.

My most recent order looks a bit like yours, only shorter. I am trying to catch up on Japanese horror now that I'm getting a Malata.

Inugami
Battle Royale
Audition
Uzumaki
Love on Delivery
King of Comedy
God of Cookery
From Beijing With Love

I guess I had to do some catching up on Stepen Chiau films also. The only other one I have is Shaolin Soccer; what other Chiau films should I get next?

Victim is a . Once worked in a print shop and they have a scene with a paper cutter that gave me nightmares.

Inugami is another

For me Bichunmoo was a . Seems everyone but me loved it. Hope you enjoy it too.

Nice! I have most of those but haven't had a chance to watch them. I always bug Johnny to get more Japanese and Korean subbed dvds as I've purchased everything he has sans the Kurosawa flicks (sticking to Criterion and praying for them all the come out eventually). Not a big fan of Chinese cinema which gets all the attention in this forum. Hope you enjoy them!

A quick question.
I think I'm going to try an order with DDDhouse, and wanted to order the "Audition" disc.
Since this is listed as R3 ntsc, would I be able to watch this on my computer? I don't have a multi-region player, but really wanted to see the film. From what I've read in these forums, it sounds like it would work. I'm in the U.S.
All the other titles I'd be ordering would be R0 ntsc, so I shouldn't have problems with those.
Any info would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

You computer's DVD-Rom and corresponding software would have to be region free and/or be able to select regions in order to play R3.
