Does anyone know if Cinema Parallel are releasing "Satantango" on DVD? They only mention the VHS version on their web site (I haven't seen such an amateurish and snotty web site in a while, BTW): http://www.cinemaparallel.com/satantango.video.html

I asked them but so far no response - anybody knows?

...well... I imagine preparing a DVD release of a 415-minute, subtitled, Hungarian movie would probably cost one heck of a lot more than releasing the darn thing on three video tapes... would it be worth their while?... how many people would actually buy such an epic, regardless of how good it may be?...

...I'll admit it does sound rather interesting - but I'm certainly NOT going to buy a tape release ... that's sooo last century... and for just pennies less than $270.00 too! ... what are these people thinking of?...

For $270 and on VHS, it is definitely a sham. No film, not even Satantango, is worth $270 for lousy 3 VHS's (and I've seen Satantango already).

Instead, check out Tarr's Werckmeister Harmonies instead - it should be making its way in select cities soon (it was already released in NY).
