"Yamakasi"
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0267129
Just wondering if anyone has seen this, and if anyone owns the R0 DVD. How is it?
I loved Taxi, Taxi 2, and anything else he has done. This title looks very similar, instead of cars, it's jumping. Looks like a fun romp....
Thanks in advance

...the movie got terrible reviews and apparently was a humongous flop for writer/producer LB ... people are finally catching on that the emperor walks around in his BVDs... otoh, the (French, R2, PAL, dts-enhanced) DVD gets a definite thumbs-up - technically, that is - contents-wise schlock is schlock, even when LB has a hand in it...

It flopped in Japan also after a big stunt publicity.Maybe Luc Besson is losing his touch
. I love his Fifth Element and just got word that Wasabi is going to be released in Japan soon.

wat can i say:
Silly, CHILDISH piece of plot. found myself shifting in the seat & looking at the watch. Dreadful. for those who are weened on MTV. Watch it if u like kids jumping around... like in a NIKE commercial.
sorry. but it IS a very bad. actually, i am not sorry abt my comments.
This is not the way to penetrate into the Asian market Monsieur Besson..... C'est horrible! Merde!

I liked it more than Taxi 2. It's a bit more serious and less relentlessly goofy than Taxi 2. The director did a bad job with the action though. The Ripley's Believe it or Not televsion program had a segment on these guys and they were AMAZING. They were like monkeys - Leaping and climbing in insane fashion. But in the actual film, it's hard to tell how good they are. The angles and editing used make it seem as if they're faking the moves.
One thing that pisses me off about all of these Besson flicks so far (well, Taxi 1 & 2, Yamakasi) is that the trailers make them look like the ultimate action-packed thrill rides, but the actual films have very little action in them.
Still, the HK DVD is only $10, so it's worth trying if you liked the other Besson films.
