International Newbie
Hey all,
I'm a newbie to the international world...but i'm looking for some good resources.
Does anyone have a really good site that compares the various releases for films? I know it's probably impossible to get one that does ALL releases...but I know there are certain versions of films that I'd really be interested in picking up like American Psycho (deleted scenes in UK) and Frantic (widescreen in UK).
Also, what are the best places of getting discs from overseas sent to the states? Any places that are the cheapest?
I'm in NYC so I doubt anyone would stock them. If there is a FAQ, I would appreciate it.
THANKS!

That FAQ doesn't really cover much beyond Hong Kong cinema - There's an international list of films not available in the US floating around this forum that should help. www.asiandvdguide.com has a list of different versions of asian films. The FAQ at the top of this forum might have some information about PAL and NTSC that would help you as well as some other information that's universal among international DVDs. You could also ask international questions in the forum and they will most likely be answered.

DVD Basen has links to different reviews of disks from various regions, so it's possible to make comparisons using that.
dvd compare can be used to compare the technical specs of disks from different regions.

dvdtimes.co.uk has a comparision region forum....
Good places to order from? I've ordered from Blackstar, Amazon and dvdstreet (which I prefer) from the UK....Cdjapan and Amazon in Japan....And Amazon France....Dvdzone2 is a pretty large retailer, but I haven't ordered from them as of yet... There are some other great international places that dvdtalkers have purchased from Italy, Spain and the Netherlands....So if there is something you want that isn't available in R1, you can probably find it somewhere else...Good luck and may your Credit Card love you...
