I'll keep looking, but if you find the specs first, please post them, I am curois too.

There's a little info at:
http://www.bulletsnbabesdvds.com
They said they will be reviewing the DVD shortly. They did say it's non-anomorphic.

Tartan's track record has been less than stellar. Their previous releases (RING 1, 2, AUDITION) has very poor picture quality, despite being anamorphic and all. The contrast is too low.

DVD Talk Legend
I gotta say the Universe version of this film is great. I have no problems with it... I don't have a widescreen TV though so it being non-anamorphic doesn't matter to me. It does have DTS though, and it sounds great and the picture is crisp. I'll hang on to this one unless they release a supreme edition with anamorphic, DTS, Behind the Scenes with English subs and a bunch of extras and the case should look like its bound in human flesh or else actually be made of human flesh. Either way.

Battle Royale
Sadly the Universe dvd doesn't fair toe well on larger screens, as the master/compression problems become painfully obvious. On an average size tv it's a good choice though, especially at the bargain price. Unfortunately it looks like Tartan has chosen to dump another theatrical/festival print to dvd, rather than ante up and obtain a proper master. The audio specs are quite disappointing as well. Looks like either choice on the subtitled dvds has its downsides. I've opted for the Japanese release, but then you have to consider the cost and have the ability to playback via a pc to add in subs, which is a problem for many. As for BBFC censorship, heres their verdict on the film:
When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 113m 7s.
The running time of this film was calculated from the measured length of 10180+6 ( feet + frames ).
This work was passed with no cuts made.

but that may be intentional and the same in the original. I liked the DTS track
and the DD was not bad either.
