DVD stores in Madrid?
I'm planning to be in Madrid and possibly Malaga for a short time over the Christmas holiday. Anyone know of a good place (decent prices, good selection) to pick up some DVDs like Nameless? For that matter, any suggestions of other Spanish DVDs (w/English subtitles, please) I might want to be on the look out for?

Your best choices are:
FNAC, near Callao.
El Corte Inglés. It's a chain of department stores. They have a dedicated video/DVD store near Puerta del Sol.
Prices are more or less fixed everywhere, except when there is some special offer. For example, El Corte Inglés offers 20% off if you buy 2 or more DVDs, but only in Jan-Feb.
Other big general stores (Carrefour, Alcampo, MediaMarkt) have interesting prices on new releases.
Don't miss these titles:
Abre los ojos (the edition is much better than region 1)
La comunidad (2-disc edition)
Los amantes del círculo polar
Solas (pretty bare-bones, but a masterpiece)
Torrente

Not really familiar with Nadie Conoce a Nadie or Arte de Morir. Anyone care to offer some opinions of those? Also, is it too much to hope for that there might actually be any places in Madrid or the area around Malaga to get cheaper, used DVDs of any of these Spanish titles?

Nadie conoce a nadie is the directorial debut of Mario Gil, co-writer of Abre los ojos and Tesis. It's a thriller too. The premise is okay, but the development and denouement are awful.
I haven't seen El arte de morir.
Not much of a secondhand DVD market in Spain, I'm afraid.

Regarding prices, I used to order online and have stuff sent to my brother in town. Now I'll just wait to get there at x-mas and peruse discs live at the FNAC or El Corte Inglés. Unless you order at Alcoste (poor selection) you won't save much online compared to street prices.
Cheers.
