fifth element:
i'd choose the re-issue with improved picture + sound, here's the link:
http://www.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fas...1258&vid=25118
the former edition reportedly had bad picture quality.
you may also check out the german film database www.ofdb.de for questions about cut/uncut version (a pair of scissors will appear when cut)
search for 'originaltitel' and enter english titel
uncut in german is either ungekürzt or ungeschnitten or unzensiert.
another good link is http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/ to compare rc1 and (english) rc2 versions- cuts are indicated ---- note: english censorship mostly is stricter than german, so a german uncut version may be cut as an uk-release
quite often there are 2 releases of the same film in germany: a cut and an uncut version.. quite complicated...
regards from germany

Is anybody familiar with the German version of Breaking the Waves? DVDstation.de says there are compulsory German subtitles for the undubbed version, but I know some R2 discs let you get around this by selected the dubbed version and then switching to the original language track during the actual movie.

depending on your dvd-player... if you own a region-free model, you should be able to surpass the user prohibitions with most of the models
i dont own that disc and cannot definitely tell if you can use that workaraound you've described on that dvd

Feedback is good.
Humour is good.
Even creative trolling sometimes has its place, I believe. (Its main place, it would seem, is in the Other Forum!!)
However, whatever faults you may find in another member's way of putting his/her point across, however wrongheaded you may find him/her, please consider very carefully whether you want to be the instigator or perpetuator of a flamewar....
As I mentioned in another thread, I always think it is a shame when productive members become entangled in this kind of thing. Several have recently been subject to adminstrative action for activities in other DVDTalk forums.
PS: if Londo is reading this I noticed a discussion for him in the Computer Forum: link

Khan, if you have them yet could you let us know if the commentary track on Stargate is English or German?

Why not discs with non-english audio, but with english subtitles?
with that in mind I'd recommend...
The Princess and the Warrior - DTS and DD 5.1 tracks German audio tracks, english subtitles - http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005O45C

you'll see the following piece of information :
Untertitel: Deutsch, Englisch
Whether or not this holds true for all of the special features remains to be seen.. and its release has already been delayed once

I hope this helps.

Those of you interested in getting the German edition of Don't Look Now should be aware that the French version is superior, a slightly sharper transfer with less noise in the dark scenes, anamophic menus too. It's also cheaper. I purchased it from DVDZone2.com for less than $20 US dollars shipped. French title is Ne Vous Retournez Pas. Same features as the German version other than the anamorphic menus, except no brochure inside the case.

Re: Princess and the Warrior, German 2 dvd set
Well, I bought it today, and I can confirm that it does not contain English subtitles, despite what amazon.de listing says. It only has German subtitles.
