Universe's "City on Fire"....looks like I got a lemon

Hrrmmm....
Anyone else had problems with Universe's release of City on Fire? My Pioneer DV-434 just won't read it. The player keeps trying to spin up, with the "loading" indicator displaying. I'll try it on a friend's player tomorrow, but I bet I've just got a lemon. The disc looks perfectly fine, no scratches, and the player hasn't given me trouble with any other discs.....It's probably not worth the trouble of trying to return or exchange it, but I really wanted to see this movie.

eh well,

Re...

You may want to return it for a new one. I never heard of problems with this title on different players. I have a Sony S-3000 and it has played fine as well as in my computer's DVD rom.
Also, you may want to clean the disc. Sometimes it looks clean but it still has something on it.

I have that same problem with Universe disc Fong Sai Yuk that I have. My Aiwa 370 just doesn't like it. Plays fine in my PC though... Haven't had a chance to try it on another stand-alone unit.

cheers,
Gabe

I've had problems with a handful of Universe discs on my Panasonic, as have others with other players. You didn't say where you got it, but it might not be all that much trouble to return. It takes time, but I've had pretty nice exchanges with Hivizone. Some people have had to pay to ship the duds back, while others got reimbursed. You might be able to save some change & just send back the defective disc & keep the case it came in...

Thanks for the replies folks,
I tried the disc out in a friend's Sony (forget the model number....it's one of the newer ones, but not brand new) and it can't read the disc either. I even cleaned it first; no-go in nuthin'. Even my DVD-ROM drive can't read it. I got it from http://www.dvdshelf.com. I'll get in touch with them (they've been very helpful in the past with e-mail correspondence) and see what's required for an exchange.

thanks for the input!
