Matalta / Wega Question

I've looked for the answer here and on avsforum to no avail, but it should be a quick one. Is there any way set up the Malata such that it outputs an anamorphic signal when the disc is so enhanced, and just a regular letterboxed signal when it isn't? In the manual it looks like "normal" video mode would do this, except for the fact that no such mode exists. I'm guessing t's hopeless, and I'll either have to constantly zoom or change the video mode when switching discs. Thanks.

I haven't found a way. However, at least on my 16:9 European Wega, the zoom from the Malata looks MUCH, MUCH better than the zoom from the Wega itself, so I've happily come to terms with everything coming out in 16:9 mode.

You need to change the video mode when playing non-anamorphic DVDs. It's annoying, but worth the price of admission.

Of course, once you get a 16x9 screen, it ain't annoying at all. It rules.

Yeah, I figured as much. For right now I have both DVD players hooked up anyway, so I can use my old one for R1's & 0's. Thanks guys.
