They are licensed but not from Shaw Brothers. The company that releases them licenses edited foreign release versions from the US rights holder. It's generally through a loophole in the contract but it is legit none-the-less.
How do you think companies like Xenon get all of the titles that they've released. And if you're goingto complain about Poker why aren't you complaining about the other sites like Amazon or stores like Best Buy where you can also but these titles?
Maybe it's because you have something personal against them. Did you find something cheaper elsewhere and now you have a personal vendetta? I don't understand why some people try to be so vindictive for absolutely no reason.

In Ground Zero's dreams maybe. They are certainly not licensed from Shaw, hence their usage of cut + cropped european + american dubbed prints in many of their titles. Last time titles were licensed was back with the UK tape releases of a few Shaw films a few years back now.

Yep, real nice, trying to slam poor little Poker and not Amazon, Best Buy, and Buy.com, and the tons of other stores carrying these titles? More than a little dubious and fishy. We've been covering these titles releases in the Old School thread, and they do appear to be licensed through a fortunate 'loophole', just like the tons of Shaw editions that have made their way to shelves for the past 20 yrs. It isnt like these are some fly by night releases, kung fu sites have been covering them for quite awhile.
This is an obvious attempt to smear Poker. And even worse, any real Hong Kong/Shaw fan wouldnt spend any time putting the legitamacy of a release under a microscope, they'd just be thankful to have the title. Shame, shame, shame.

I agree with Iaido....Ground Zero is the bomb and I am thankful to have almost all their titles in my collection. Ground Zero has been putting out quality product and even have been putting features on their latest additions. Most collectors of old skool kung-fu think they among the best (if not he best) company in terms of releasing older Shaw Bro films. I say gold bless them. No more bad 4th generation VHS tapes.....curious to see if the original poster submits a reply....

Poker. Yup, to get them to answer e-mails is a task in itself. I gave up after four or five e-mails and called them up. My order wasn't processed for some reason; and was a bit miffed.

But so far with 3 orders and 15 dvds later it has been great ordering from them.

First off, A new member posting their first thread accusing a company of something is ALWAYS suspect and so I've banned the user.
Also a user posting a thread under a new member name to attack one of the companies DVD Talk works with and then to make claims about the first poster is also HIGHLY suspect.
Here's what I can say to help clarify:
1) HKFlix isn't signing up under false accounts on our forum. We work closely with them and they are a respectable company. Two of the top people there have accounts under their names and they have shown nothing but respect for the forum and our members
2) Saying stores that are respected as Pokerindustries or HKFlix is selling bootlegs is like crying fire in a crowded theater. Many DVD Talkers have reported great experieces with Poker Industries as well as HKFlix. In my mind they are both 'trusted' places to shop.
Closing this thread.
