Are there any R4 DVDs from South America?

And if so, are there any online etailers? I know there's a lot of R4 Australian DVDs but I've never heard of any from the entire continent of South America.

...ahh... the only title that readily comes to mind is Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In America (Portuguese title: Era uma vez na America) which is available on a pan'n'scanned 'flipper' from Brazil, available here...:

http://dvdworld.com.br/dvdworld.hts

...me, I'm waiting for DVDs of movies from Argentina, by -e.g.- Leopoldo Torre-Nilsson...

...or movies from Brazil, by -e.g.- Glauber Rocha...

...a few DVDs of movies by directors from Mexico would also be welcome (e.g. Emilio Fernandez, several movies by Luis Buñuel)...

But, hey!, I'm also waiting for DVDs of movies from Sweden, by directors other than Ingmar Bergman (think Alf Sjöberg, Bo Widerberg, or Jörn Donner)...

...not to mention DVDs of movies from Italy, by -e.g.- Alberto Lattuada, Giuseppe de Santis, and Vittorio de Sica)...

...and so on...

(thinks) ...it'll be a long wait...

. . . . . .

Thanks for the link Hendrik!

I don't have time to check that site out at the moment but I did notice that they have Disney's George Of The Jungle on their homepage and it has a widescreen banner across the cover. It's pan and scan everywhere else I've checked. I'll have to find out if it and others are 16:9 enhanced, if so I'll be very happy to order from them.

Hey codefree, do you speak Protuguese? I wanted to order some DVDs from that site but can't get any reply from them about shipping to the US.

I sent them babelfish translated e-mails (which I'm sure made me sound like an idiot) but no reply

If anybody can help me order DVDs from Brazil, I'd be grateful.

Thanks

No, only English and a little German. I sent them an email in English hoping by some miracle I'd get a response but I haven't heard anything yet. From what I've seen their site really doesn't have anything that can't be gotten anywhere else. I was hoping to find some 16X9 DVDs where the R1 counterparts aren't but have had no luck thus far. I did notice that the cover of George Of The Jungle they have says "widescreen" on it but they list the aspect ratio as 1:38 which isn't widescreen at all. I'll check them out again later, maybe I'll get lucky.

Off-Topic:

If Jörn Donner you're talking about is http://us.imdb.com/Name?Donner,+J%F6rn then he isn't from Sweden but from Finland. Maybe he has directed/produced in Sweden too, but he's a Finn.

...sorry about that! ...didn't want to step on anyone's toes here... I was (vaguely) remembering a movie of his - 69 was its title, I believe - that I saw thirty-odd years ago... and my memory ain't what it used t'be!...

...shuffles off into the distance, mumbling into his beard...

Hendrik, don't worry Jörn is native Swedish speaker I believe so it is easy to get confused. Just wanted to make sure false information wouldn't spread, don't like the guy too much.
