Breakdown - better version out there.

Some of you may be interested to know that the German release of this movie has several things not on the existing Region 1 release. Anamorphic widescreen (and yes there is an English 5.1 soundtrack), interviews with cast and director and behind the scenes footage totalling about 45 minutes. Great disc! Those with Region 2 capability to www.amazon.de. And yeah, i know this really belongs in the international DVD forum, but none of you guys ever seems to go there.

I assume this is the Kurt Russell movie? I love this movie. I wouldn't hold your breath for a new release of it over here though.

This sux. Why couldn't Paramount re-release this? Fixing mistakes is an important thing to do.

It is indeed the very same film. I too wouldn't bet on a Region 1 re-issue as Paramount have yet to re-release any of their early bare-bones discs. Hmm, i wonder if the release of The Sum of All Fears next year will prompt them into bringing out S.E's of the Jack Ryan movies? Now there's a thought...........

Those who have regionfree capabilities do visit the International forum. The only purpose I can see for posting this in this Talk forum is to brag!

Regardless, I appreciate the info although I would have found it quicker in the International forum. I will definitely purchase this German DVD.

Cost me £15 shipping to the UK from Germany - about $22 assuming shipping charges are the same for the U.S. as to the U.K. from Germany.

Before you get too excited about this version you sould be warned: BREAKDOWN IS CUT IN GERMANY!!! The scene where Amy (K. Quinlan) releases the brakes of the yellow pickup on the bridge is missing. No extra on this disc could make up for a butchered movie.
