Iron Monkey... which version?
I have heard very good things about this movie.
Which is the best version to get.
I know there is one on ebay that stiller66 is selling for $21.99 with an english language option. (#1447782901 )
Is this the best version out there.
He also sells one from China for $13.99 (# 1447782946) How is the quality of that version. The price is cheaper so I assume it isn't as good, but how much of a difference is there?

I got the Mega Star version from DDDHouse and it has English 2.0, Mandarin 5.1, and Cantonese 5.1. There are 8 selectable subtitle options (including english of course). There are also a few trailers for this and other films. I love this version and if you can find it cheaper, get it. I haven't seen the US version.
Plus - I'd NEVER buy ANYTHING off of ebay again.

The best version of the film is the HK Legends release out of R2 UK. If your player can do PAL-> NTSC, go that route.
However, if it can't, the Mega Star version is also a safe choice.

By the way - the iron monkey going on ebay is totally a bootleg. It's NOT the Media Asia disc. Don't buy it! Mandarin only?? Stay away!!!! Ebay is the devil! I looked around at other sellers and they all seem to be selling this crappy edition. If it was legit, they wouldn't be selling it on ebay.

There are two auctions from Stiller...
The first one which is more expensive looks like this
This is the cover that AsianDVDguide.com has for the MegaStar and Pioneer versions.
The second one which is a little cheaper looks like this:
This is the cover that AsianDVDguide.com lists for the WA version.
Is there a bootleg version with the MegaStar cover? I do not want that one.
(Added: I guess the pitures are only links.)

Sorry - guess you're an ebay fan. I hate ebay so perhaps I was taking it out on them a bit. It looked like a bootleg to me because of the english title overlay on the ebay seller's page... it's more likely to be the WA disc and the english overlay was added by the seller. Anyway - no need to get snippy with me. I didn't do anything to you.
So maybe it isn't a bootleg, but just get the Mega Star release anyway since it has english dub as well as Cantonese and Mandarin 5.1.
As for my comment that if it was legit, it wouldn't be on ebay - that's more of my ebay intolerance coming through - all the luck I've had with ebay has been the bad kind. Sellers of bootleg Star Wars and Indiana Jones DVDs plague the site. Those DVDs are NOT legit, so that's why I say if it's legit it wouldn't be on ebay. I thought it made perfect sense. Legit sellers often use ebay's sister company Half.com to sell their legit titles. I don't trust ebay sellers half as far as I could throw them... but that's just me. I did find a few sellers selling a "SPECIAL EDITION" DVD of Iron Monkey which turns out to be the Mega Star DVD - I don't remember it being a "Special Edition" - so why should I trust those liars?
My advice to niiyama is good advice based on my personal experiences with that site... If you have different advice, go ahead and share it. It just seems a bit uncalled for to get on my case while doing it. I'm sorry if that isn't a bootleg, but you have to agree that the image used on the seller's page looks like a bootleg with that english writing on it. Thanks for the info on WA titles and helping me clear this up (and doing a much better job of it too)... So I'll retract my statement about it being a bootleg, but I'll still maintain my position that he buys the DVD elsewhere and gets the Mega Star version over the WA disc.

Thanks for all your advice Trigger and Furious...
I am now sure that I do not want the WA release.
As for ebay, I have not have any major problems yet and the seller has a good feedback rating. If I go this route, I don't think there will be too many problems.
DDDhouse does seems to have the best price I've seen and though I have not heard of a problem with them, I am still weary about ordering from overseas.

Regarding overseas ordering, your only concerns will be shipping time, customs, and possible parcel damage. DDDHouse is generally quite fast, they can mark parcels to help you avoid customs, but on the other side, their packaging on smaller orders is very wanting. Call me crazy but an inter-office mail style envelope doesnt make for proper packaging. That said DDDHouse has tons of satisified customers. Either way you should be fine.

However. If you are concerned about packaging. http://www.coolashop.com (please look in the corner that says "English" and click it for english content. Because quite frankly I'm fed up of people saying there's no english content ) have the best packaging IMO, a jiffy bag then a bubble wrap sleeve. But only decent if you are ordering less than a couple at one time.

As stated, WA is not a bootleg company, and although their releases are Mandarin audio only, they have put out some great titles like Warriors Two, Operation Scorpio, and The Sword that were neglected by other companies. US sellers on ebay are a fine place to get these discs, as well as PokerIndustires. (For Iron Monkey though, you'll want the MegaStar version), I just wanted to add a defense of of WA titles so that no misinformation was spread by itchy trigger fingers.
