Belgian version of Memento in dts

I got this from http://www.dvddebate.com/index.php

The Belgians have something to crow about this week in the shape of a DTS release of the soon-to-be cult classic Memento. The disc features a full 5.1 DTS English audio track, Dolby Digital 5.1, anamorphic 1.85:1 video and a 30-minute interview with Director Mike Nolan. All the menus are in English with removable French subtitles.

The list price for the disc is 29 Euros, which works out at around £17.50, although you'll find it online for around £14.50 plus delivery. Thanks to Popal at DVD Alliance for the info.

I'm waiting for the inevitable SE anyway.

I don't really see how this movie will benefit with DTS...

To clarify: Memento was directed by Christopher Nolan, not Mike Nolan. Also, I doubt the film will benefit much from an over-cranked DTS track.

I copied and pasted it from the website. I didn't even see that.

Obviously I didn't buy the R1 release yet so I'll order this R2 DTS version instead. Call me a DTS fanatic if you must. Thanks for pointing this out!

Wow, what a scoop. Eurovision...Bucks Fizz...now an interview on this brilliantly constructed thriller. Well done, Mike.

From: in a 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio
I think I remembered correctly that when I saw Memento in theatres, it was in a 2.35 ratio. Maybe I should taken a polaroid when I saw it?

I was going to order this DVD earlier today and it's out of stock at DVDZone2. Every other etailer seems to want several more Euros for it. Anyone know how often DVDZone2 takes to get more stock of new releases? It took them almost three months to get the Sleepy Hollow DTS disc back in... I don't feel like waiting that darn long again.

...hurrah for the Belgians? ... I wonder...:

a) this particular movie 'benefits' not at all from a dts soundtrack, but, hey! it's dts, right?! that's much better than stupid ol' DD, right!?...

b) the anamorphic transfer of this 2.35:1 film is framed for 1.77:1 - in other words, fully 25% of the image are 'lost' in the 'translation to (Belgian) DVD...

...rabid dts-ers will no doubt overlook this piddling little flaw... what's a measly 25%, anyway?

...sensible people and genuine film cognoscenti will stay away in droves... or not?

. . . . . .

While I'm guilty of buying a DVD simply for the DTS soundtrack, if Memento is indeed in the wrong aspect ratio I will not be making this purchase after all.
