I'm considering buying the Region 2 Release.
How is the film? Could you classify the film into any particular genre?

How is the picture quality? I am assuming that it doesn't
come with a director's commentary, but does it have any
special features?

Finally, does anyone know if this release is censored
in anyway from the original?

I thought the BBC was usually pretty strict about what types
of things could be released.

...the R2 Salò DVD was released by the bfi (British Film Institute)... the movie is utterly complete and uncut (it's an 'arthouse' film, after all) and the transfer is - and I'm being kind here! - terrible ... non-anamorphic 1.85:1 ... out of focus, starting with the main titles, virtually all the way to the (very bitter!) end ... this DVD is not recommended - unless you feel you simply have to have this movie (the - frankly, not much better - Criterion Edition is OOP)...

Agreed. It's barely watchable, especially on a larger screen.

I'm still hoping that MGM is going to put this out in region 1.
