I know there was a thread here not too long ago about Jackie Chan's The Accidental Spy regionfree DVD but after a search I was unable to locate it. Anyway, if anyone out there owns this disc can you tell me if the DTS soundtrack is in English and if the Chinese subtitles are removeable?

subs are removable, and the HK Universe version is 'original language', meaning that it is multi-language - English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Turkish, etc.

I got this in the mail Monday and watched it Tuesday.
I don't have many HK DVDs so I found it odd that everyone spoke different languages (Turkish, Chines, English).
It is also funny that most online etailers list this movie as having a Cantonese, Mandarin, English and some list Turkish language tracks. That is very deceiving to people that are not familiar with the "original language" policy.
All in all thought I was happy with both the movie and the DVD.
One note though... this title may have a DTS soundtrack but it is only a 2 Channel (Pro-Logic/Dolby Surround 2.0) soundtrack and not 5.1
Criterion's new DVD for "The Rock" does the same thing. I guess I will never understand why any studio would want to use the DTS Audio Mastering system on a 2 channel track and then provide the standard Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack.
I tried both the DTS 2.0 and DD 5.1 soundtracks and I feel the 5.1 sounds better.

What DVD Player and Receiver are you using? I am going through a Toshiba SD-4205 (Cinema Series) DVD Player and a Yamaha RX-V795 Receiver.
I tried comparing the DTS track to the DD 5.1 track and the DTS track just wasn't as full. It sounded like good Pro-Logic whereas the DD 5.1 track had alot more depth to it.
I would be interested to see what others think of this and what Receivers and DVD Players people have experienced this on.

Yamaha RXV-496 and Pioneer 525. Differences between both tracks were evident with the DTS track being a bit louder at the same volume levels with a bit cleaner overall sound. There are plenty of rear channel effects in the film and a fair bit of shifting of the score between the speakers so I can't see why you couldn't get much out of the track other than needing to tweak your receiver setup a bit. The thing that may be throwing you is a distinct lack of LFE on either track. The 5.1 mixes have a tinny feel to them in the action scenes. As for the Rock I've no idea whats up with your setup on this one. There is no mistaking the DTS mix for anything other than a full blown 5.1 mix, just ask my neighbors.

Personally, I think this is a good sign for (perhaps) an increase in HK DVD quality. There's even a few (4, I think) anamorphic releases now.
