We also just started a catch-all thread for all things organizing and storing, "Official" OCD DVD Collecting and Organization Discussion Thread.

Also, don't forget to use Bing when you order from Meritline for an extra few % back. Other referral sites may apply as well.

Thanks for the post. Looks like they have a limit of 1 per order.

Re: 100 7mm slim dvd cases for $17 shipped

I've used quite a few of these and have ordered from various sources. The quality is really a crap shoot: some brands barely stay closed (don't drop it!), some hubs can't hold the disc firmly, many have a clear plastic sleeve that doesn't lay smoothly down (looks wrinkly). If you find some you like, my advice is to reorder immediately to maximum needs because they CONSTANTLY outsource to the cheapest manufacturer.
Don't forget to order some double disc slim cases also. I was able to find some 5 mm ultra slim cases.

It's 1 per item, so you could order one 100 pack, one 200 pack, and one 500 pack.

If there were any way to convert to slim without altering my inserts I would be on board with this.

Why would it alter your inserts?

Maybe you mean the cover art. Yes, that you have to slightly fold to make it fit most of the time. A very few of them are printed small enough to still fit into a slimcase, but most of them have to be folded or trimmed.

But honestly, for 9 out of the 10 that I trim, it's completely empty white or black space, no text or artwork of any kind. Nothing to miss. For the 1 out of 10 times that I would have to cut text or artwork, I just fold back instead.

If you care enough about the complete package to care about 3mm of blank space on each side of the cover art, then you probably care enough about the 'original case' to not think of altering anything.

I started doing this last year after I stumbled on your thread. It has saved me a ton of shelf space.

I picked up another 100 cases, those Big Lots dvds are eating into the space.

That's not necessarily true. The inserts are ALWAYS unique to the item. The same release can be packaged in differently manufactured cases. Also, if the DVD happened to become valuable, damage to the insert would seriously damage the value of the DVD as a whole, whereas the case probably would not.

You don't have to alter the inserts, they fit fine.
