Obviously, I didn't. If it's available, the box will be checked and grayed out. If it's not available, the box won't be checked and it will be grayed out.

I have no idea if this is happening to other people. Recently phone calls from collection agencies about overdue magazine subscrptions. I never recieved a renewal or any notification. I thought this might be a fishing scheme. Anybody have similiar experiances from signing up for free magazines?

Yeah, my phone is 555-1212. Haven't gotten calls.
I have gotten 'renewal' forms that look an awful lot like invoices, and offer crappy pricing to boot.

Google the telephone number. If it's coming from Colorado it's probably that "company" that got a customer list from Essence or Ebony magazine that keeps calling everyone. I've been called about 3 or 4 times and have recognized the girls voice is the same each time. She sounds like she's in her 20's and has a New York City accent.

I can top that. A few years ago a company in town misprinted their business cards, letterheads & marketing material with MY phone number on it. Their number was a single digit off so it was an easy typo to miss. I'd get 3-4 calls a day so I had to change it.

Now when I fill anything out online(for the past 3 years) I put their phone number.

movieguru, from your description it appears they are targeting people subscribing to black oriented magazines. Would this also pertain to people subscribing to Vibe magazine? Sounds like the same company you are describing.

What made me suspicious was the fact they would not send me a hardcopy of the collection. The lady said that the collection was only over the internet.

It may have been Vibe magazine. I'm white but must have subscribed from one of the free links to it thorugh Mercury without noticing what mag it was. I remember telling the callers that I was not the target demographic for that magazine.
