I was at Target tonight trying to the the 2-disc edition of "Lord of War" and overheard one of the Target employees telling another customer that the price on the PS3 had just dropped $100.

I did see the tag on the shelf myself and it reflected the $499.00 price.

This was at the Target in Davenport, IA.

It was just a rumor.

Those two price ads give us the indication that the price should be dropping to $500 in another week.

it was listed at the target in schaumburg, IL for $499 last night so I picked one up... just my luck we get back and the thing doesn't turn on haha. Exchanged it at a different target this morning, that still had it listed for 599 with no problem.

It officially dropped in price.

It did officially drop in price, but not for another week it wasn't supposed to change for another week and someone dropped it in the system by accident so if you want from target you have too wait a week I guess.

$499 at FYE, Suncoast, Coconuts, etc.. as of today the 9th.

Amazon.com has it for the same price, plus free shipping, free Blu-ray remote, free Memento disc, as well as the 5 free movies already offered.

Best Buy has it online for $499 as well. A friend that works at Best Buy notified me about this at around 7:30am this morning. I thought original speculation was a price drop around November/December in-time for Holiday shopping...?? No complaints here...

hey if anyone gets any info on a price cut on the xbox 360 please post that would be amazing if there is one. Theres gonna be no need for a wallet over this summer.

Check in the official xbox thread in video game talk it appears that the drop in the 360 is 50 and has been reflected already at some sites.

No price drop for the 360. At least not announced at E3. With the lineup of games coming (Halo 3 and many others), I'm betting MS thinks they don't need to drop the price at all.
